“Did you sleep on theplane?”
“No. There was a dog in the seat in front of me which kind of took away from some of my sleepingtime.”
“Was hebarking?”
“No,” I say with a smile, “he was poking his head between his seat and the wall and I pretty much couldn’t stop petting him. He also ate most of my ChexMix.”
“So you’re hungry. All you had was that croissant. I’ll give you a little while to getready.”
I follow him back into my room, and this time, he doesn’t touch me to help me down the ladder. I watch him leave and close the door softly behind him, and when he does, I take a big, deepbreath.
I knew I’d like this city. I think I might actually be falling in love with it,too.
