“Only, she says.” Petra had half a mind to jam her finger into Simone’s chest. “You know I’d kill to be 5’5. I could reach things in kitchen cabinets.”
“Being tall is highly overrated.”
Petra laughed.
“What?”
“Highly.”
Was Simone rolling her eyes? It was hard to tell in the hot shower, but Petra would be sad if Simonewasn’trolling those gorgeous eyes.
“May I get some of that water on my head?” Simone gestured to the liquid still raining atop Petra. “I didn’t only come in here to flirt. If we’re leaving super early tomorrow, I won’t have time to shower.”
Petra moved out of the way. Although the shower was sizable for a mid-range hotel, they still had to squeeze past each other. What to do?Ogle? Pretend she didn’t see – or feel – anything? Yeah, right.
“That’s right.” Petra braced herself against the rear shower wall. “Get yourself cleaned off. You’re a dirty girl.”
Simone did a perfectly timed double-take. Or so Petra declared it when water splashed right in Simone’s face and she scrambled for a washcloth to dry herself off. Petra handed her one she had kept on standby and used the opportunity to check out every inch of Simone’s naked body.
Yes. Very nice.
“No need to throw last night in my face.” Simone tossed the washcloth back to Petra before carefully running the shower water through her hair. As fake blond hair flattened against Simone’s scalp, Petra bit her lip and admired the flexing muscles in her travel mate’s lower back – and ass. That ass flexes. Damn.Petra was a bit younger than Simone and already had cellulite in those same areas. What was Simone’s secret?Rich people stuff.“That was a vulnerable moment you caught me in.”
“You mean arealmoment? Honey, nobody starts saying those things in the heat of the moment because they don’t mean it. No worries, though. I’m the last person to judge what gets you off.”
Simone remained turned away, rubbing hot water into the back of her neck. Petra had half a mind to soap up her hands and get to work, but to be fair, she and Simone didn’t know each otherthatwell yet. Boundaries. They were good, Petra heard.
“For what’s it worth,” Petra continued, when Simone continued giving her the silent treatment while she bathed, “that was some hot shit. Almost as hot as this shower.”
“Yes, and I’m sure you’d love a round two.”
“Isn’t that why you’re here? It’s not to help conserve water for the environment.”
“Don’t push me.” Simone grabbed the soap and lathered both of her hands within two seconds. As soon as she touched herself well enough to cover her skin in a sheen of white, Petra no longer felt bad about staring. “I’ve got things going on in my head. Remember what I told you about my…”
“Addictions?”
Simone scoffed. “Sure. Not everything is anaddiction.I mean, obviously, some things are or dangerously come close… but not everything. I still drink and smoke some pot here and there…”
“There’s a term for that, you know. Cali sober.”
Simone ignored Petra. “Point is, we all have our ways of escaping reality. Some are more dangerous than others. I’ve kicked the hard stuff, but I can’t help but be drawn to other… things.”
“Are you a sex addict? Because that would’ve been good to know before I enabled you.”
“I wouldn’t call myself a sexaddict.”
“Lemme guess – sex is another way you self-medicated. Hey, I get it. I don’t think this is anything more than a convenient fling. Assuming you’re up for that.”
Simone furrowed her brows through the steam. “Don’t youdarethink it’s my way of paying you back for driving me north.”
“Lord, why would I think that when you’re paying for most of the gas already? How about we completely detach this idea of ‘payment’ from ‘sex’? This is the second time you’ve said something like that, and it’s weirding me out.”
“Sorry.”
Petra fought back a sneeze while Simone turned back around and rinsed the soap from her body. “I don’t care why you would want to have sex with me. Other than having a good time. That’s what I’m in it for.”
Simone spat out the water that had entered her mouth when she tipped her head back beneath the showerhead. “In the end, that’s why I’m into it, too.”
