While she didn’t immediately recognize a grown Stacey Gabriel, Lucy was soon face-to-face with a lovely teen girl who had the same girlish quality to her countenance as the little one rushing across a stage in a fairy outfit. Only now that costume was replaced with another.

A simple, conservative wedding dress.

She beamed toward the camera, bright smile attacking the lens as she held both gloved hands to her chest.

“I love three things in this world.”Cute, girly print handwriting wrote those words at the bottom of the scanned photograph.“Drawing, playing chess, and Noah.”

Lucy backed away from her laptop. What the…On its own, the photo might have been nothing. A woman named Stacey Gabriel in a wedding dress talking about her love for a brotherly figure named Noah could have been innocent enough. So what if he had a sister he never talked about? So what if she got married and still loved him as her big brother?

But in conjunction with that other interview with her father…

No way. He’s not married. He said as much.Lucy shook her head with fervor. No words passed her lips, but the ones bouncing between her ears had the power to deafen her. There’s also no way he’s married to his fucking stepsister. That’s so sick and twisted. What even in the…

Lucy X’d out of the window and closed her laptop. She paced before her desk, sweat crowning her brow as she fought back the more twisted truths that came with rich people.

Normal men – not even normalwealthymen – didn’t go to private auctions at sex clubs to bid thousands on women like Lucy. He already had a twisted sense of sex and romance. Why not marry his stepsister the moment she turned legal?Even if it’s not something he wanted to do and only did it out of duty… that’s so fucked up.Lucy could believe it, though. He was the kind of guy that would do things out of familial duty, even if they personally did not appeal to them.

For all Lucy knew, this was how he had a sex life. He wasn’t going to fuck his stepsister, so why not go find an impartial woman who would take money in exchange for her services?

She grabbed her phone and texted Noah for the first time in days.

“Tell me one thing, Noah Gabriel,”she wrote.“Are you married?”

Lucy didn’t wait for him to respond. She put down her phone, slammed her elbows against her desk, and sat with her forehead in her hands. Moments later, she sat back with a little clarity, and began typing in her blank Google document.

Finally, she had a lot to say.
