Kai and Preston standing in the kitchen with crossed arms on the other hand...

That's a whole other story.

"Uhh..." I struggle to come up with something to say so I proceed to look like an idiot instead.

Nice, Evanora, good job.

"Interesting to see you two together," Kai murmurs flatly.

"I thought the two of you hated each other?" Preston questions, seeming genuinely confused instead of irritable like Kai.

"We do."

"Then what was the kiss for?" Kai challenges.

Of course they saw that.

"We may have… had some words after he saved me from Bodie," I hedge.

Instead of being angry, Preston actually starts to laugh. Kai, though, continues to scowl.

"What is so funny?" Kai questions Preston who's now laughing so hard he's leaning against the counter in support.

"God, the fact that the two of you, and you clearly"—he motions to my angry pussy—"think that there's nothing but hate there is hilarious."

"I know there's more than hate there, I could practically smell the two of them when they were within close proximity," Kai counters. "I just don't like Bellamy even though Evanora clearly does."

"Excuse you, I hate that asshat."

"Nora, love, the two of you had sex, there's usually much more to it than just hating each other," Preston tells me now that he'd gotten his laughter under control. "Now, I'm not saying hate fucking isn't a thing, but it's obvious to just about everyone that you two have the hots for each other."

I balk.

Hots? For Bellamy Putnam?

Hell fucking no.

Well...my ovaries try to challenge but I shush them.

You keep your hussy mouths closed, you've gotten me into enough trouble.

We've gotten you enough dick, they seem to huff In response.

I may need some help for trying to talk to my lady parts, but dry spells can do that to a woman, right?

Not so dry anymore though,my body sings.

"I'm afraid he's right." Kai's reluctant agreement pulls me from my internal arguing.

"That I have the hots for Putnam?" I pretend to gag. "No way. In hell. Ever."

"Really? Because I'm surprised you didn't set the grass on fire outside when you two were talking from the amount of fire going on."

Preston's brow arches, daring me to argue his point.

"Can we not continue to talk about Bellamy?" Kai finally cuts into the silence. "We still need to eat."

At his reminder, my stomach rumbles loudly.
