Sweet saints of broken condoms—I'm a werewolf.
There can be no other explanation as I watch coarse hair begin to ripple underneath my skin and poke out of it. Thank those same skanky saints that I'm wearingnickelearrings instead of ones made of silver. It's lucky I'm a cheap ass gal with a penchant for clunky, bargain jewelry. I watch in fascinated horror as the fur protrudes from the top of my arm all the way down to my wrist, retracts, and then pushes out again.
It's my own personal train wreck I can't stop staring at.
Somethingis trying to crawl out of my body. I catch my reflection in the mirror, my eyes wide in abject terror. Too quickly to discern what it is, my face morphs before shifting back to my normal human one. I scream as all my other worries, including my desperate need for a shower, disappear. There's only me in this horrible moment—the moment of truth when I'm about to learn what Dr. Fuckface really did to me.
I take that back.
The door bursts open with Jack and Jude trying to cram into a one-person bathroom—that one person's already in.
My moment of horror is now to be shared with others.
“Get out!” I garble in a strained voice. “This is a personal moment. I'm having an emotional and physical breakdown. Something's happening to me. I'm a werewolf. Drinking blood issonot cool.”
“That's a vampire, love,” Jude corrects gently. “Why don't you come out here? We can see what's wrong.”
“I’m changing,” I sob. “Changing into some unknown animal. They injected me with something, and now, I think I'm one of you.”
I moan this as I walk back into the cabin, and all six of my new friends stare at me with the same horror I just stared at myself with.
“What did they inject you with?!” Sian asks in a whisper.
“I don't know. It was a mistake.”
“A mistake?!” Elise snaps. “What do you mean amistake?”
“They were supposed to inject me with something else to make me horny.”
Behind me, Jack snorts.
“Why would they need to do that?”
I cut him a quick glare, but answer, “That's what I said!Sonot the point, though. They wanted to make me go into heat, but Doctor Fucktard gave me the wrong shot. Apparently, the dean isn't too worried because now I'm hisguinea pig. I'm turning into something, and I don't know what.”
“That's not good.” Arthur mutters.
“That'sdefinitelynot good,” Theo echoes, “because if they're turning her into something, chances are. . .”
He trails off.
“It's a Tertiary,” Jude finishes for him.
“Oh, ok—so, I'm going to be big and bad? That's good because I'm onyourside,” I add hastily.
Even though I don't want to be any kind of animal except ahumanone.
“We have to be careful—you don't know about our species in the sense that we've been raised since infancy to be who we are. When we're in our animal form, we share a human brain, but our animals can take over very quickly. If you're a tertiary who's never been subjected to this duality or being a predator around humans, you could maul us,” Jude explains.
I stare at him in shock.
“You mean I could eat you…maybe?”
Jack shrugs.
“Maybe.”
“But I would never eat you! I swear—well, except out,” I clarify, indicating to Sian and Elise. Sian blows me a kiss.
