“She has a point,” Brenda adds.
“See! I can picture it now, you can meet your dates at the same place as me, the same time, and we can be there for each other when needed.”
“Actually, Iamgoing out on a date this weekend.”
“You are? Finally! My turn, I want to know all the details.”
“Oh, do tell!” Brenda says.
“Alright, I’ll tell you. But you first, Kimberly.”
“Fine. My next date is with some guy named T.J.”
“T.J.? And what’s his story?”
“All I know is that he’s a single dad…”
“Okay… so we know he’s mature,” Kimberly says.
“I disagree,” Brenda laughs.
“Yeah, what Brenda said! Kids don’t make people mature, necessarily. There are a lot of crappy moms and dads out there that have some growing up to do. Trust me, I know,” I tell her thinking of my own dad that left us when I was little.
“Sorry, I know,” Kimberly says and touches my arm, “I didn’t mean…”
“Yeah, I know. It’s fine. I’ll take a chance though. I mean, not every man is the same and I have a lot of respect for single parents.”
“What do you think T.J. stands for?” Kimberly asks.
“That’s random,” I laugh a little at the sudden change in conversation but know she did it on purpose. “I don’t know!”
“Totally jazzy.”
Brenda and I laugh, “You think someone named their child totally jazzy?” I ask shaking my head as I turn to walk back down the hall to my operatory with Kimberly following behind me.
“Thomas James,” Brenda says offering a logical suggestion.
“Ugh, that’s boring,” Kimberly groans. “I think maybe… tomato juice.”
“Oh my gosh,” I shake my head and hear Brenda laugh again as we walk further away.
“Talented Jimmy,” she says now.
“Could be,” I roll my eyes just giving in.
“Treacherous jelly,” she adds unhelpfully.
“I can’t with you.”
“You always say that.”
“I think I always will,” I walk into my operatory with her laughter ringing in my ears and wondering how she managed to get out of telling me about her date. She’s a genius that one. An evil genius.

Tonight, I’m wearing a cute midi dress. It’s black and has little fluttery sleeves that fall off my shoulders. I’ve paired them with some cute espadrilles, fun jewelry, and my straw handbag. My brown hair is flowing down my back in soft curls, but one side is braided to just behind my ear. Together the look is soft and feminine and I feel pretty and confident.
A great start to the evening.
