Before I realize what’s happening, Justin has picked me up and thrown me over his shoulder. He’s stalking away from my table. I beat my fists on his back, pick my head up and see Jordan standing there dumbfounded watching in complete shock and confusion.

“Don’t go anywhere, Jordan. I’ll be right back.”I yell, now ensuring that everyone in the establishment is aware, as though they weren’t before.

“No, she won’t. Good night, Jordan.”

From my precarious position, in shock, I watch as Jordan bolts to the door and disappears from view.

“Look what you did! He’s leaving!” I manage to shout at Justin.

“Oh no!” Justin responds with mock concern, having now arrived into what I now know is his office where he slams the door closed, locks it, and finally places me on my feet.

“What do you think you’re doing?Who do you think you are? I’m on a date. With…uh…Jordan!”

“You want to know who I am?” I don’t say anything, I just stare at him. He looks glorious. His chest is heaving, eyes alight with fire and determination, he’s angry and has never looked so freaking sexy.

I swallow hard.

“I’m the guy that’s been trying to reach you for days.”

“I-“ I start to interrupt.

“Shut up. It’s my turn!” He says without malice making me close my mouth.

“I’m the guy that’s been showing up at your place banging on the door begging to be let in.”

“I didn’t want to talk to you,” I tell him and he glares at me.

“I’m the guy that can’t get you out of my head, demands a chance to explain himself, and has been beating his head against the wall because I haven’t been able to get through to you.”

I open my mouth to say something again, but he places his finger over my lips.

Fire.

That fire, tingles and all the things I was missing previously when Jordan kissed my cheek, they’re here now and it’s a blazing inferno.

“I’m the guy that’s so head over heels for you that if he sees that guy out there put his lips on you one more damn time, is going to lose his ever-loving shit.”

Well. He managed to do it. I have completely shut up.

“From the moment you came into this place, I felt drawn to you. At first it was nothing but entertaining.”

“Oh gee, thanks,”

“God woman, just be quiet,” he says but with a smile. “Watching you with those jokers, was amusing at first, but then I found myself wanting to know more about you, listening in on your conversations,” he smiles when I make a face. I knew it.

“After your date with that bird guy, I knew you wouldn’t be back. At least not for a while. So, I went to your work. Before that, if you recall, I asked you out here, when you were sitting at the bar, but you thought I was joking.”

“I don’t remember that.”

“So, the next time, I was more forward about it. But you hesitated. Could you have been more infuriating?” I open my mouth to respond, but he quickly says, “Don’t answer that.”

He continues, “So, I began scheming, yes, scheming so as not to lose an opportunity to have what I want, I said we could fake date. I only said it to get you to agree.”

“You weren’t really fake dating me?”

“I never even thought about it again, you’re the one that kept bringing it up. I figured you’d fall for me, like I was falling for you and it would never get brought up again”

“I was falling for you.”
