“You look like you’re about to pass out,” he says.“How do you feel?”
“I… feel… weird,” I say.
“Chair.I need a chair,” Cam says. Before anyone can move, everything goes dark.
Iopenmyeyes, and I’m confused for a minute.I look around and see both Remy and Cam sitting beside me with their hand on my leg.I’m at the house, but I’m on the couch. My arm is wrapped.I look up and gasp, seeing Ross looking down at me.I don’t expect him to me looking down at me like that.Cam and Remy snap their heads up when they hear me.
“Hey,” Cam says.“Are you okay? Are you in pain?”
“Uh…”
“Here, sit up.Slowly this time,” Remy says.He helps me sit up and I close my eyes for a second.
“Ross scared me,” I mumble.
“My bad,” Ross laughs.
“What happened?”I ask, opening my eyes to look at Remy and Cam.
“You passed out,” Cam says.
“No shit,” I retort.
“Doctor said between emotions and shock from the injury, your brain decided it needed a nap,” Remy says.“You passed out and we brought you here.Your mom bandaged your arm.It doesn’t need stitches or anything, but she used glue to seal it up.”
“Who tried to kill me?”I ask.
“No idea,” Cam says with sigh.
“It was a .22 caliber weapon. No one left the building, so it was someone in there. They must have been standing up in the back,” Ross says.
“Sneaky fuckers. Thanks for knocking me over,” I say.“Any ideas?”
“Anyone seem out of place today?”Ross asks me.
“I’d have to think about it,” I say.“Where are Mom and Dad?”
“Right here,” Mom says from the kitchen door. She walks over and leans down to hug me tightly.“I’m glad you’re okay, baby.”
“Me too.I kinda had a feeling something would happen.Things were going too well,” I say.
“Hey, kid,” Dad sighs as he kisses the top of my head.He looks pissed.I can understand why, considering someone killed the woman who was like a daughter to him and then shot me.
“Hey, Daddy,” I say.“You okay?”
“Mmm.Yeah.I’m okay,” he smiles.
“Is everyone else okay?”I ask.“No one got hurt?”
“No.Everyone is okay,” Cam says.
“Well… I don’t know what to do now that someone tried to kill me,” I say.
“Just relax and focus on yourself,” Remy says.“I’ll help you get showered and changed. You’re covered in blood.”
“I just want to relax,” I sigh.
“We are leaving town after a while,” Mom says as she hugs me again.“I love you so much, baby girl. Please be safe, okay?”
