“Something came up.”

“Bullshit,” Jace says. “Your meeting with Stephan’s lawyer has been delayed. You need the cash for Matty. What’s going on, Clara?”

“You’re doing it again,” Carter gets up.

I take a few steps back—not because he’s menacing, but because I know where this is going, and it will lead to the demise of my resolve. Shaking my head slowly, I try to keep my distance.

“I’ve made up my mind,” I say.

“No, you haven’t. This is nonsense, and you know it,” Carter growls. “What’s really going on here, Clara? What are you running away from?”

“I’m not running. I’ve been clear from the beginning that this was temporary.”

“How much longer are we going to keep playing this game?” Carter asks. “I pull, you push, and we end up going in the same direction anyway. How much longer are you going to punish yourself, to keep struggling on your own?”

“I’ve been on my own for a long time. We got by,” I retort.

“Barely,” Jace scoffs.

I want to resent that, I do. But I can’t, because he’s right.

“You’re not resigning,” Carter says as he takes a step toward me.

I move further back, increasingly eager to reach the door before he can stop me. “I can do the designs remotely and send them over. I’ll draw up a services rendered contract, I’m good with that.”

“I’m not,” he replies, closing the distance between us. “I’m done playing, Clara. You’re not going anywhere. I wasn’t kidding when I said I’m not letting you leave.”

“You can’t keep me hostage,” I state firmly, quivering on the inside.

Carter crowds me until my back is against the door. I gasp as I hear him turn the lock.

“I said you’re not going anywhere,” he hisses and presses his thigh between my legs, causing my mind to spin. I lose track of time and space, holding my breath as Carter drills holes into my soul with his furiously aroused glare. “You’re not going anywhere,” he says again, then kisses me hard on the lips.

I can’t resist.

He’s too angry.

I’m too turned on.

He’s hard and pulsating against my lower belly. The kiss evolves into something primal and impossible to control. His hand comes up to remove the pin from my hair, a cascade of red falling over my shoulders.

“It’s time you learned a very important lesson, Clara,” Carter says, his breath hot and ragged as it tickles my swollen lips. “You’re ours.”

I glance over his shoulder to see Damon and Jace taking their clothes off, hungry looks in their eyes. In the meantime, Carter unzips my pants and unceremoniously pulls them down, while I mindlessly fumble with his shirt.

I groan as he grabs my breast, squeezing tightly through my blouse and lacy bra.

He takes my blouse off, quickly unsnapping the bra clasp in a desperate effort to undress me. In under a minute, I’m left naked and wanting, flanked by three men.

Jace pulls me into a deep kiss. His cock twitches, pressed against my hip, while Damon gets behind me, his hands roaming up and down my back.

Carter grips my chin, pressing his lips against mine. “Always mine, always ours. Say it.”

“Carter…”

“Say it!”

“I’m yours.”
