“Where should I sit?” she asks.

“Baby, this tight little ass better be on my lap at all times.”

Nova grins as she takes a seat on my lap. I wrap my hand around the top of her thigh.

“You like when I boss you around a bit,” I whisper into the shell of her ear.

“Yeah, I do.”

“I love you,” I whisper.

“I’ll never tire of hearing that.”

“I’ll tell you all the time.”

“I love you too.”

She nuzzles into my chest right as Caleb steps in front of us, blocking the view of the fire.

“What’s up, man?” I ask.

“Hey, Nova,” Caleb says.

“Hey, Caleb.”

Caleb faces back over to me.

“Wolfe. This is Eddie.”

Eddie is a gangly, tall man who looks to be about twenty-five. Ruffled-up blond hair swings across his face.

“Eddie. The man, the myth, the legend,” I taunt.

Eddie looks visibly nervous.

“Wolfe. I’m glad to finally meet you.”

“That’s nice.”

I assess Eddie, knowing that maybe he does have an idea as to why Caleb brought him over here.

“Meet me inside. In ten.”

“Look, man. Wolfe…” Eddie starts.

“Ten minutes. You got a problem with that?”

Eddie gulps as his eyes widen.

“No. No. Of course not. I just don’t know how helpful I’ll be.”

“I’ll be the judge of that.”

He nods and walks away.

“You’ll be there too,” I say to Caleb.

“Yeah. See you in there.”
