“Nah, I just know what he’s doing. But he’s going to end up back in Roper State after this.”
“Adam will let us know when they leave.”
“We’re going to head over now. Everyone else in an hour to set up positioning?”
“See you then.”
The line goes dead, and I pocket my cell phone right as Nova approaches.
“Everything good?” she asks.
“Just Toby inadvertently playing his role in the plan.”
She sighs and rubs my shoulders.
“Toby has had options.”
I try to sink into her touch but remain tense.
“I know.”
“Toby has the tools and ability to stay out of this.”
“Is Dr. Dollface coming back out?” I tease.
“I’m always going to be a doctor, you know.”
“One of the qualities I fell for, remember?”
Nova steps forward and wraps her arms around my neck.
“How could I forget?” She smiles.
“It feels like a lifetime ago.”
“No, hunny. Our lifetime starts tomorrow with this behind us.”
She gives me a soft kiss that I relish. As I pull away, a hint of a smile appears on her lips.
“You’re right, angel. Soon enough, we can build a life together.”
“Tomorrow.”
“Forever begins?”
“Yeah, Wolfe. Forever.”
I smile at this woman and know that she is truly my forever. If I live to see tomorrow, I’ve got a plan in mind.
The night skyaround us is shining brightly, causing a near-perfect view. It’s a shame it’s all about to go up in flames. The world around us will be so lit up that I hope we don’t burn down anything else.
Not everyone knows the full extent of my plans.
Nova and I arrived early to pour gasoline everywhere. I didn’t want to make this part a spectacle in case someone from the Vipers is keeping eyes on the place. It’s easy enough for two people to sneak in and move about, not ten.
A few brothers will come by in an hour to set the large warehouse ablaze and get out. Once Sam and his crew arrive, it’s go time.
The police will get the anonymous call simultaneously. No one will be the wiser that we orchestrated the whole plan.
