Me: Don’t forget my snacks, see you at home later!
Amy: Big dick energy…
I just ignored her again. I’ll have to fill her in later on about that and Eric. I was finishing my beer when I looked up.
“So, congrats. Guess I’ll see you tomorrow.” Jason stood across from me, hands on the bar with straight arms. Damn, his muscles were huge. And those eyes. For a moment I lost myself in them before I remembered he said words and I needed to reply.
“Thanks, I can’t believe it. And hey, thanks for walking me home last night. Sorry if I was mess. I didn’t realize how much I had to drink.”
He shrugged his shoulders and I almost thought I saw the corner of his mouth turn up, then the house band started playing and I turned to look.
“So, you think it’s a good idea to go down that road?” Jason asked.
I turned back to Jason, irritated. “I don’t know what you mean but why is any road I take your business exactly?”
He cracked a smirk then walked to the other end of the bar. He definitely needed some kind of stick action. Damn. But, he did seem hotter today than I remembered, even in my drunken state last night. I shook it off. It was getting late, and I wanted to get out of here before I had a repeat of last night.

I napped on the couch when I got home so I could hear Amy come in. She barged in around eleven and wonderful aromas came from the bag she was carrying.
“Here’s some snacks, so spill! Tell me all about the audition!” she insisted as she plopped the bag on the coffee table.
We sat for a while snacking and I told her all about the audition and about Eric.
“So, Jason didn’t mention last night then?” Amy asked between bites of fried cheese wedges.
“No, he did come congratulate me and mentioned I shouldn’t start anything with a bandmate but that was it.” Amy tossed a half-eaten cheese wedge at me.
“Wow, you’re really that dense. No wonder you’re blonde.”
I tossed a pillow from the sofa at her, and she looked at me with wide eyes but still unfazed.
Amy’s face turned serious. “He’s right, ya know. What if you hook up with this guy and it goes sideways? Then you’ll be there playing sets together every other night in the weird zone.”
“Well, maybe I can write a song about it and be like Stevie Nicks. Make Eric play the songs written about him!” We both laughed hysterically for a few minutes before losing steam and getting tired.
Eventually, we finished off the snacks and I was beat. I didn’t overdo it today but needed to finish recovering from last night, so we split off to our separate rooms for the night. Tomorrow was the first real show for me, so I needed to be well rested.

I saw Lucy come into the club early for her audition and Jaz was talking to her. I made sure to look busy because I couldn’t talk myself into walking over and swallowing my pride long enough to apologize for grabbing her. It took everything I had to not stare at her, though. She was gorgeous in jeans and a t-shirt, but the outfit she had on today had me thinking like a caveman again.
Every inch of her up to her breasts was hugged by fabric accentuating every single curve. Her waist was cinched in by her top giving her already hour-glass figure a sharper mid-section and creating irresistible round hips that would fit perfectly in my hands. And that top barely covered her nipples, exposing two beautiful rolling hills that I’d love to let my mouth take a trip on. Her curls were pushed behind her shoulders draped down her back. I could see a hint of apprehension across her bare shoulders, but that was probably because she was waiting to audition. I’ve never seen her self-conscious about her body. She wore tanks and skirts all the time when the weather was warm. Luckily, it was warming up a lot lately.
I was struggling to manage restocking the bar without ogling at her. My jaw was tense as I focused on each individual bottle, so I didn’t look up at her again. The music stopped and I saw the new band thanking the girl before her then wave Lucy up. She was walking toward the stage so one glance wouldn’t hurt. The back of her outfit was just as nice, if not better than the front view. I didn’t mean to stare, but watching her ass hugged into those pants was almost too much. I jammed my hand down into the ice bin to shock myself out of it and cool off.
Of course, as she walked up to the stage that punk bassist grabbed her hand to help her up and she totally fell for that shit. All he did was help her up three small stairs. Whatever.
But as I tried to get back to prepping the bar for the night, her audition began and captivated me. I’d never heard her sing before, not without music and a bunch of drunk college kids singing, too. But her voice was amazing. Ethereal. It was an extension of her normal speaking voice. Even though the music was more punk, the sound of her voice still sent chill bumps over my arms.
I didn’t even realize I had stopped what I was doing and leaned against the bar. It was like she was a siren enchanting me, drawing me into her spell. Only when she made eye contact with me did I finally realize my body was tensed as I leaned on the bar, and I felt my teeth grinding as my jaw clenched. I quickly straightened up and turned away from the stage. It took everything I had to not turn back and keep watching.
I kept my back to the stage and fiddled with the bottles on the back of the bar, straightening the labels. Jaz looked over at me and made a face. We both knew what every single liquor was and never faced the bottles. She wouldn’t say anything to me, of course, and I don’t think she knew I caught her stank face at me. I heard the music stop so I looked up to the mirror behind the bar and saw her walking down the steps.
I saw Jaz head over to Lucy’s normal spot at the bar, so I took off to the kitchen. I needed to snap out of this before I could get to work. The crowds would start coming soon so I needed to get my mind right.
