The air was cool and crisp, a light breeze swirling around. We had some great conversation, and I must have been laughing hard because my tight French twist was getting loose, and a stray tendril blew across my face.

Odin released my arm and stepped in front of me, sweeping the hair from my face and tucking it behind my ear. His touch sent a wave of warmth shooting to every extremity and between my thighs. It could have been ten degrees out, and I’d wager I still wouldn’t feel cold after that.

He licked his lips, pushing his hand between the collar of my coat and my neck. Tingles danced up my spine, and I leaned into him, turning my face up to his. His warm lips took the chill away from mine with a soft press. A low growl hummed in his chest. and a soft whimper escaped my mouth.

“Dinner was wonderful. I suppose I will see you tomorrow?”

I swallowed hard.Dammit, Janie, you pounded the beers to get the nerve to ask. You deserve this.“Or I dunno,” I said, running my hand over his chest.Holy shit, was there body armor under there?

He leaned back down, this time a greedy kiss, his tongue licking my lower lip before pushing inside. His other hand went to my back, pulling me closer against him, and my hands grasped at his sides. His cock pressed against my stomach, hard and wow! Was that his cock or a can of caulk?

“Did you want to come to my hotel room, Janie?”

Trying to catch my breath, I whispered, “Yes, please.”

Chapter 4

Odin

This trip was already the best I could remember. What are the odds I’d meet a beautiful, smart, successful woman? We didn’t talk much about work, but she mentioned being an executive for a company in the city. I was fully prepared to get her safely home, but when she wanted to come to my room, what kind of man would I be to deny her? We already made plans for the weekend; this was just icing on the cake.

I took her hand in mine, escorting her the short walk to my hotel. She didn’t seem to be impressed, reaffirming my assumption she was successful. She’d stayed in plenty of places like this before, or she was playing it off very well.

When I came to visit, I had no intentions of any hookups or dates. But Janie was a vision and a great conversationalist. Even if I wasn’t moving to Georgia, it would be easy enough to visit. Especially if this deal went well. I hadn’t been this taken with a woman… I don’t recall ever being this taken.

Sure, I had met beautiful ladies that were fun and easy to talk to, but Janie was different. The whole package, with a dose of humility. Although, I could break her of that given enough time. Someone like her had no cause to be humble.

After a short trip in the elevator, we made it to my floor, and I waved her inside the suite. “Have a seat. I’ll call room service. Excuse me.” Stepping into the bedroom and pushing the door closed, I used that phone to call room service.

“How can I assist you?”

“Yes, room 2002. Can you send up six Blue Moons, the appetizer tray, two slices of tiramisu, a carafe of decaf coffee, and a box of condoms, please?”

“Yes, Mr. Gärd. It will be up shortly.”

“Perfect. Thank you.”

When I walked back out, Janie had taken her coat off and was on the balcony. I stepped behind her and ran my hands over her arms. “You must be cold,” I said before covering her in an embrace from behind. Her small hands grabbed my arms, gently squeezing.

“I should be cold, but I don’t feel it. I miss living in the country, but the view in the city is spectacular in its own right.”

“Oh, why did you leave the country? Better commute?”

She froze briefly, then sighed. “Odin, I should tell you something.”

I relaxed my hold, and she stepped from my arms, gliding into the living area. I turned but stayed put just outside the door. I didn’t want to crowd her.

She paced briefly, running a hand down her face before she stopped. “I’m married.”

My heart sank. I liked this woman, but I wouldn’t be the man that broke up a marriage. “Janie, listen, I think you’re wonderful, but maybe you need to go home to your–”

“No! I don’t live with him anymore. I’m really only officially going to be married through Wednesday. We have a hearing that day.” She scurried to the sofa and rustled through her bag. Holding her phone up, she said, “See, it's on my calendar. Right next to the family dinner for Thanksgiving.”

I blew out a deep sigh. “Whew. For a moment I was horribly conflicted. I didn’t want you to go, but you understand how it sounded at first?”

“Yes, I’m sorry. I don’t even know why I told you. I’ll literally be single in five days.”

I waved her back to the living area to take a seat. “Can I ask?”
