Reluctantly, I took his hand and walked inside. I was relieved to see he was right. Nothing too crazy. Some girls were sitting in laps, a few were having some hot and heavy make out sessions, but it was no worse than something you’d see in a night club.

It was a little smokey, but Glenda had gotten Hammer to have the air system fixed. Casinos had special filtration and pumped in fresh air or something like that. She explained it to me but all I knew was that whatever they’d done helped tremendously with the smoke. Apparently when the hurricane had gone through years ago, the HVAC system and all the parts were damaged. The previous owner had the bare minimum fixed so he could run the AC and try to prevent mold, but he’d never finished everything before the Royal Bastards took it over.

A few of the ladies smiled as I walked in. All of them were nice, some friendlier than others but I didn’t mind. From what little info I had, all of them had a reason for being there besides just thinking bikers were hot. The club seemed to offer them safety and comfort. And there was order to it all. Everyone didn’t have to get along, but everyone had to be respectful of each other.

“Hey honey,” Pinkie said as she bounced behind the bar. “You ready?”

“I’m excited. Maybe a little nervous.” I researched the bike rally. It was definitely not a family event, but we had the houses Hammer rented and they shared a large pool, and the beach was a walk across a two-lane street.

Glenda gave me some tank tops and cut t-shirts to help me blend in with the other women who’d be there. I had a few cutoff shorts and jeans, and two bikinis. Bama got me a jacket and promised I wouldn’t get too hot. I packed it just in case for the ride back, but I didn’t have it last week and it was fine. Theweather was still balmy and the idea of wearing a jacket made me sweat thinking about it.

But I wasn’t sure what to expect when we got there. The men and women at the clubhouse were great, but I had no idea how anyone else would be. And I wasn’t sure how I’d act if I was drinking and any women came onto Bama, but I didn’t need to draw attention to myself, either. Although my new hair may draw a little.

“No, I meant for that?” she pointed behind me.

I turned around, and Bama was standing with something behind his back. Glenda was right next to him, covering her mouth with her hands but her eyes showed signs of a smile.

With a nervous smile, I asked, “Whaaaatttt are you doing?”

“Hammer made me do it this way. I’m sorry.”

My heart raced. “Sorry? Why?” My heart started beating faster in my chest. What was happening?

He pulled his hands to the front, and he was holding something leather. “Linny, we voted, and it was agreed by my brothers. Now I just need you to agree.” He held up the leather, and I realized it was a vest like his, or I guess they called it a cut. But there was a patch at the top that said “Property of” then another at the bottom of the skull with a crown was “Bama”.

“Oh my God.” My face heated and tears filled my eyes.

He stepped closer. “I knew you’d cry. But dipshit said it was his club, blah blah blah.”

Laughter caused tears to finally roll down my face. “Someone was awfully confident.” I swiped the tears from my cheeks.

Bama’s brow furrowed. “Should I not be?”

“Hey, you made me cry in front of everyone. I had to have a little fun.”

“Jesus Christ, is that a yes?” Glenda asked, her hands shaking.

Nodding, I smiled up at him. “That’s a yes.”

Bama wrapped his arms around me, squeezing me hard and my arms went around his waist. Tears fell freely. He asked me to be his in front of all of his brothers. We were living together but this was different. He claimed me. Now not only did they all know, but anyone else would know, too. He was proud to have me.

He started to pull away, but my sobs had gotten harder when he held me, so I squeezed him and mumbled against his chest. “Just give me a minute. I’ll be all splotchy.”

He held me but Pinkie was squealing behind me, and I felt hands rubbing my back that didn’t belong to Bama. When I finally felt calm enough to pull away, I wiped my cheeks and turned to see Glenda waiting for a hug.

“Congratulations, love.”

Her warm hug made the tears return to my eyes, but I fought the sobs. “Thank you. I’m so glad to have you, too.”

“I told you. Besties now.”

“Alright, alright. Let me have my woman. She needs to try this on,” Bama said.

Glenda pushed me gently. I turned so he could put the leather over my arms. Pulling it over my chest, I looked down and I had a little patch with “Linny” embroidered on it. “It’s perfect.”

“You damn right it is.” He leaned down, gripping the cut and jerked me to him, pressing his lips to mine.

“That’s sexy right there, Linny,” Froggy said.
