It had been close to four months now, four months of being friends with benefits, and it
was obvious to me that she was becoming more comfortable being around me, more comfortable
showing affection in public. These were the baby steps I was looking for.
I knew I was breaking down her walls, and if I was lucky, it wouldn’t be long before I got
her to change her mind on the whole dating thing.
After a few people sang, Benjamin dragged Kara up on stage for a duet, singingMeant
To Beby Florida Georgia Line and Bebe Rexha. Elliott was waving her hands in the air and
swaying in my lap as she sang along quietly which made my smile widen. I pressed a kiss to her
neck which caused her to turn around and look at me with a soft smile but there was something
in her eyes that I couldn’t quite put my finger on.
After completing their duet, they came sauntering back over to the table. I heard my

grabbed the guitar. Propping myself in front of the microphone, I slung the strap over my
shoulder before situating it in my hands.
I glanced out at the crowd and saw Elliott’s shocked expression as a smile tugged at her
lips. Nodding over at the guy to my left who was in charge of the music, the spotlight beamed
down on me as I strummed the first note on the guitar.
“Elli, baby, care to come up here and join me?”
I saw her stiffen slightly before Kara walked over and grabbed her hands. Elliott tried to
resist but Kara pushed against her back, forcing her towards me. I smiled as she approached to
try and ease her nerves, holding out a hand to help her up. She wrapped her hand in mine as she
climbed up, allowing me to dip my head and press a quick kiss to her lips.
One of the bartenders came walking over and lowered the other microphone stand so it
