“I already did.”

“What!” She looked down at the gold band circling the ring finger of her left hand. The same band she wore when they’d taken Halia to the pediatrician’s office. “When did that happen?”

“When you were unconscious.”

She grabbed his left hand, lifting it in front of her face and grinning at the matching band on his finger. “We’re married!”

“Not officially.”

“Yes, officially.” She kissed him. Hard. “And if it’s all the same to you, I’d like to go home now so I can hug my daughter before I consummate my marriage.”

God, yes. He wanted that too. The going home part. The consummating would have to wait. He wanted to check her out first. Give her a full medical exam to make sure he hadn’t missed any potential issues. Ensure her blood sugar had stabilized in the normal range. Then his little vixen was going straight to bed. To sleep.

Safe and sound in the circle of his arms.

Where she belonged.

But first, they had one more discussion to have, and a decision to make. “Before we go, we need to decide what to do about the Wagners.”

“Okay. Let’s hear it.” She snugged her pelvis tight to his, settling her weight and getting comfortable. “What are the options?”

CHAPTERFORTY-FIVE

“Thanks again.I really appreciate you taking the time to talk to me.” Four days after her ordeal, Summer sat cross-legged on the bed she shared with Jamie, the guitar he’d bought for her propped against the bedside table.

“Hey, I’m just glad you’re okay. Black ice is no joke. Going off the road must have been scary as hell.”

“It was,” she admitted, remembering her near miss with the tractor-trailer before she’d found her happily ever after with Jamie, Halia, and the JTT. Unable to tell Connor Walt the real reason for missing their meeting, she’d substituted one story for the other. “But I’m fine now and ready to get to work.”

Despite her protests, she hadn’t been allowed to connect with the musician before Jamie had thoroughly investigated Mason to determine if he’d somehow been involved with the Wagner’s abduction plot.

He hadn’t, and the meeting she’d missed had been legit.

“Great. I’ll send you a standard collaboration agreement, fifty-fifty copyright ownership and royalty split. Read it over, or send it to your lawyer, whatever you’re comfortable with. Once you sign, send it back, and I’ll forward the tracks I’ve been working on. Have a listen, add your thoughts, and then let’s book some time next week to bang out a song or two. Sound good?”

Summer grinned so dang wide her cheeks hurt. “Sounds awesome.” They made plans to connect on Thursday morning, and after saying their respective goodbyes, she hung up, squealed, and scooped her little girl off the bed. “We did it!” She peppered kisses over Halia’s face making her smile. “Our songs are going to Nashville, baby!”

Too excited to keep the news to herself, she hightailed her butt downstairs to find the rest of her family, and when she walked into the kitchen, her heart overflowed with love for the occupants. Sunday mornings meant breakfast together. A crazy, chaotic meal complete with good food, teasing banter, and loud laughter.

With Jamie’s eyes tracking her every step, she cut a straight path through the crowd. “So?” He bent over to kiss her when she came within reach. “How’d it go with Connor?” He cupped Halia’s head and kissed her too.

“He loved my demo and wants to partner on four songs for his next album. He’s sending over a contract today.”

“Woohoo,” Gray screeched, rounding the island and claiming Halia before anyone else could swoop in. “That’s amazing!” She hip-checked Jamie out of the way and squeezed Summer in a quick hug.

“Way to go,” Zander said, snagging her the second Gray let go.

“Never had a doubt,” Jay said, butting in front of a scowling Jamie to hug her next.

“My turn,” he growled, pulling her out of Jay’s arms and into his while a chorus of congratulations continued to ring out around the room. “So proud of you, baby. Your music’s going to change the world.”

“Well, I wouldn’t go that far.” She blushed at the compliment and squeezed him extra hard around the middle.

“I would.” He bent over and planted a solid kiss on her lips. “But I want a lawyer to look at any contracts before you sign. Got it?”

“Got it.”

“Good. Now go sit down and rest. Breakfast is almost ready.”
