Seth looked confused but followed me out front.
By the time we stepped out to the porch, Chase had almost completely shifted back to human again. He hopped off the railing and stood as his feathers sunk back into his skin. His now human face looked tense and my throat tightened.
"Hey," I said. "What's up?"
"What the fuck just happened?" Next to me, Seth stared bug-eyed at the dark-haired man who had been an eagle just a few seconds earlier.
"He's a shifter. I'll explain later," I said with a wave of my hand.
"I spotted humans coming straight toward you from the southeast," Chase told me. "A group of five maybe a half mile away. Orion said they smelled like witches."
"Fuck." Seth and I looked at each other.
"Hunters," he said bitterly.
