Azel cupped the back of my head, lifting it off the ground gingerly. “This is forever,” he whispered. “Even after our bodies are gone and our souls become one with the sky, we’ll still be bonded. I want this more than anything but are you absolutely sure, Nadi?”
“Yes.” I tilted my chin up to capture his mouth again. “Yes, a thousand times yes.” I turned to look at Caden, reaching for his hand. “And I would have said yes to you too, if we had the choice. I love you, Caden.”
“I love you, Nadiyah, my beautiful dragon woman.” He brought my fingers to his lips. “And I can’t wait to spend forever with you.”
The most wonderful feeling of warmth and contentment seemed to shoot up my arm straight to my heart. It was so beautiful and pure, it brought tears to my eyes just as Azel began to move again.
He lowered his body over mine, wrapping around me in a strong embrace as he resumed his thrusts at an angle that sent direct jolts of pleasure to my clit. I bit my lip to hold in my scream and clawed at his back. My pleasure had been building for so long since the first one, it would take no time at all. “The royal armyknows about the mountain pass below Dragon Peak,” Azel pointed at Captain Aron’s map spread out on the table. “They’re marching straight for it and hoping to to catch us unaware on that northeastern side. Because your men aren’t used to the altitude, Captain Aron suggested leaving the same way you came in, through the southern pass.”
“Going around and flanking them on one side,” I mused, taking in the topography laid out before me. “It’s risky, especially considering our numbers now. They could surround us easily.”
“That’s why my Dragon Riders are waiting for them at the peak,” Azel smiled. “The royals will send scouts in all directions and no doubt see the rebels coming. But they won’t see the dragons until it’s too late.”
Curled up and looking adorable in a pile of fur blankets on the bed, Nadi smiled. “I don’t know anything about battle tactics but it sounds like a good plan to me. They’ll be frantic and confused, trying to fight you on the ground while dragons take them out from overhead.”
I rubbed my jaw, studying the map intently as I ran every possible scenario through my head as Captain Aron taught me. Without him here, I had to be sure we enacted the best strategy possible.
“If I may make a suggestion?” I lifted my eyes to Azel’s, his red eyes catching the firelight as if he would turn into a dragon himself at any moment.
“Please do.” He sounded sincere, without an ounce of bruised ego.
