"I'm still sleeping, asshole!" Her legs kicked out, narrowly missing my junk.
"Liar," I cackled, rolling her over and pinning her beneath me. "And I'd rather be Asshole than fucking Rory."
"I don't know why you hate it so much." She lifted her chin at me defiantly and it was fucking adorable.
"Because it's a stupid dipshit name."
"I think it's cute!"
"I," I grabbed her wrists and pressed them into the mattress on either side of her head, "am notcute.”
Her smile was stunningly beautiful and devilish in a way that got me hard in an instant.
"Sorry to break the news, but you're actually pretty cute." Her head lifted to kiss my nose. "But I'll call you Reaper if it makes you feel like a badass."
"Woman," I sighed, lying my head down on her pillowy breasts. "You're enjoying this, aren't you? Pushing my buttons knowing full well I won't do anything about it because I'm fucking crazy about you."
"Maybe a little." Her hands smoothed down my back. "Okay, more than a little. But it's payback for you being a dick before."
I lifted my head to look at her, my expression now serious. "I deserve it, then."
"Yeah, you do," she tapped her finger against my lips, the devilish spark still in her eyes,"Rory."
I groaned and rolled my eyes but otherwise didn't complain.
"You believe me, right?" I caught her hand and kissed her fingers. "That I'm going to be better for you. I've never been in love before but fuck, Mari, I want to do this right."
"Reaper." She whispered mytruename, running her fingers through my hair. "I wouldn't be here if I didn't believe you."
I lowered my head back down to her chest with a sigh, still careful not to crush her under my weight. "I'm dreaming."
"Why do you say that?" she laughed, scratching lightly over my neck.
"I'm in love with a woman who loves me back. That kind of shit just doesn't happen to me."
"Should I call you Rory a few more times?" she joked.
"Call me that all you want. I'll just fuck you until you lose your voice." I kissed her collarbone. "Anyway, I still have all this club bullshit to bring me back to reality. Speaking of," I lifted my head up and gave her a long, languid kiss, "I gotta hold church, sugar."
"Okay, I'll be in the medic's office. Send anyone down who wants their injuries looked at."
"Will do." I kissed her again. God, why did she make it so hard to leave? "And thank you, beautiful, for looking after my people. I don't think I've told you that yet."
"Just doing my job, handsome," she smiled against my lips. "Oh! Before I forget," she grabbed my forearm, "I mentioned this to Jandro a while ago but I'd like to start vaccinating everyone. Kids especially. After the battle, I don't think having people donate blood would be a bad idea either. In case more serious injuries occur down the road. Can you bring those two ideas up to everyone?"
"You remember what I told you about my schooling, right?" I rolled to sit up at the edge of the bed.
"Don't act like you're not smart enough to relay a message." She nudged me with her foot. "I didn't even use any fancy medic words this time."
"No, but people might have questions I won't be able to answer."
"You can send them to me. I guess I should have office hours, huh?"
"You'll be repeating yourself a lot," I warned, sliding my pants up my legs before looking for a shirt.
"I already do that as part of my job."
"There's an easy solution to this, you know." The idea made me grin. It broke all the club rules but fuck if I cared.
