“No.” I wasn’t going to my rooms, not when I knew he’d lock me in. When he’d have me watched and escorted everywhereagain.

Dad’s eyes narrowed, the suspicion of something finally creeping in. “Kyrie, what’s going on?”

“I’ve been with the Sons this whole time, dad.” I willed my voice not to shake, forcing my spine to remain upright. “Not just under their protection butwiththem.”

The guys were silent behind me. I could only guess at the expressions on their faces or what was running through their minds.

“What do you mean?” Behind my dad’s confused look, I saw some of the soldiers exchanging glances with each other. Some of them got it, even though I had to spell it out for him.

“I mean physically, dad. We’ve been intimate.”

He still looked confused for a second or two, then the color drained away from his face, his jaw dropping. “You’ve…what?”

“It’s true,” I said softly. “We’ve gotten closer since working together in Sevier and—”

“You got involved with abiker?Which one?”

My silence was enough of an answer, and he sputtered out the next question like it was choking him.

“Are you telling me you’ve had…relations with these men? Withallof them?!”

He probably wouldn’t care to hear the technicality that Grudge and I hadn’t done anything yet, so I said, “Yes, dad.”

“Kyrie, please.” Dad turned green, like he was feeling ill. “Please tell me this is some sick joke.”

T-Bone spoke up next. “Why would it be a joke?”

My father’s eyes snapped to him, and I’d never seen such hateful rage in his expression before. My father was not quick-tempered, just the opposite, really. I rarely saw him angry and never aggressive. If anything, I’d heard criticism that he was too soft as a leader. But he looked like he wanted to tackle my bikers right then.

“Because my daughter would never debase herself with men likeyou!”

“Don’t say that!” I snapped.

“Nice to know how you really feel, Vance,” Dyno scoffed. “After we’ve spent years jumping when you called, running around as your hired muscle? After we’ve bled for your territoryandsaved your daughter? Twice, I might add.”

“Youtouchedher!” my father roared, shocking everyone. “You—you took advantage of a young girl—”

“They didnot!” I yelled. “I can make my own decisions! I chose them, dad. Iwantedto be with them! For fuck’s sake, Ilovethem!”

Everyone in the foyer froze. No one even breathed for several long seconds. T-Bone was the first to break the silence.

“Kyrie, I think we should leave.”

That snapped my dad back into action. “She is not going anywhere with you! General Bray, arrest these men.”

“What? No!” I started back toward the guys, but my father grabbed my arm roughly and pulled me toward him. He wasn’t anywhere near as powerfully built as my men, but he was still much stronger than me. My panic grew as the soldiers surrounded my bikers, taking their hands behind their backs and binding their wrists with zip-ties.

I struggled harder against my father’s hold and stared in disbelief at General Bray. “They’ve done nothing wrong! How can you allow this?”

The general inclined his head toward me, the gesture almost apologetic. “They’re not formally under arrest, Miss Vance. We’ll just detain them for a bit until we come to a solution.”

“I’m sure we can find a crime or two in their colorful history to convict them with,” my dad said with such a vindictive tone that I didn’t recognize it.

“Typical,” T-Bone scoffed as the soldiers led them away. They didn’t struggle, didn’t yell, didn’t even seem angry or surprised.

Me on the other hand, I was seething.

“You fucking bastard!” My screams echoed as I fought with all my strength, fought for my men and unleashed my fury at all the unfairness they’d been treated with. “I never should have come back. I fucking knew you would do this! You can’t treat people like this, you fucking asshole!”
