Dyno kissed me roughly, sucking hard at my lips until I opened them for him. Trying to distract me, of course. His tongue swept inside and I wished I could do the same to him. It was so hot watching his and T-Bone’s tongues thrusting against each other, mimicking sex when they tried to dominate each other’s mouths.

I was grateful that they did everything possible to not exclude me. Ibelievedthat they loved me. But even within our happy trio, I still had moments of feeling like a complete outsider.

“Do I need to suck your cock to make you feel better?” Dyno kissed me again, groping the front of my jeans. His lips dragged to my ear. “Or should I talk about how much I want Kyrie sandwiched between us right now?”

That got a groan out of me, and I clutched his shoulders, my cock springing to life at the thought of him touching meandher.

“Knew it.” He bit playfully on my earlobe. “She’d be riding you, getting you all slick and hot so that you can take me next. I’d be in her ass, feeling you through her while she takes us both.”

“Mm?” I cocked my head, and he knew from my expression what I was asking.

“T-Bone’s bossy ass will be directing the show, of course.” Dyno’s laugh tickled my neck and made me pulse against his hand. “Kissing each of us when he feels like it, letting all of us suck him like he’s a king.”

I groaned at the thought and bucked my hips into Dyno’s hand. Nothing would be better than sharing them with her—seeing the pleasure on her face, teasing T-Bone into oblivion while we both sucked him—what was that?

A distant sound had me putting a hand on Dyno’s chest and a finger to my lips. He immediately pulled back and listened too, hands drifting over his belt. We were on a walkway near the capitol grounds, so everything was well-lit. But lights also created deep shadows at night, thus plenty of hiding places.

We should have been more alert, not messing around. But Kyrie had never been in any immediate danger, except possibly from Nathan, so our dumbasses had gotten lax with our security. Fuck, we should have been better than this. I clenched my teeth and hovered my hand over the gun at my hip.

“Grudge!” Dyno hissed, gaze pinned over my shoulder.

I whipped around, drawing my gun to point it at the man who seemed to appear out of thin air. The other bodyguard. I recognized his pitbull-like scowl as he took a few fearless steps toward me.

“Hah!” I warned him, cocking my gun and pointing it at his chest.

“He won’t hesitate,” Dyno added. “I suggest you stop where you are if you enjoy breathing.”

The man’s steps slowed to a halt a few feet away from me. Aside from that, he looked utterly nonplussed at Dyno’s threat.

“If you care about your little ambassador girl,” he said softly, “you’ll get her out of that building within the next five minutes.”

“Why? What’s happening?” Dyno demanded.

The man’s chin lifted. “We’re taking our fucking city back from these rich pricks. That’s what’s happening.”

Oh. Fuck.

Rebellions and uprisings were a regular occurrence after the Collapse. The fights for territory and control were never-ending, so it shouldn’t have been all that surprising. But now couldn’t have been a worse time.

Or the perfect time, from the rebellion’s point of view. All the cabinet members, officials, and dignitaries gathered together in the ballroom made them an easy target.

“You’re making a mistake. A bigger army will hear of this by tomorrow and crush you by the end of the week. Don’t put your people’s lives at risk.” Dyno was trying to dissuade the man, but I saw the hard determination in his eyes.

“Oh, the big army’s coming. But they’re on my side.” The man was eerily calm. “And you have no idea how big our resistance is. The territory is already ours. The rich pricks just don’t know it yet.” He tilted his head, eying us warily. “You’re normal folk, like us. And your ambassador seems like she’d be willing to stand with us. So consider this a courtesy; get her out before it’s too late.”

He raised his arm in the air, extending two fingers as some kind of signal. Moments later, we heard a high-pitched whistle, then turned to the sound of a boom and crackle in the night sky, which lit up with streams of color and smoke.

Fireworks—an apt distraction for people who couldn’t resist marveling over shiny things.

“Come on!” Dyno slapped at my arm and then we were off, running to the nearest entrance to the ballroom.

We didn’t make it twenty feet before the first explosion hit, knocking us to the ground with a blast of heat. My ears rang painfully, and I could still hear theoohsandahhsmorphing into screams of terror.

“Fuck! Courtesy, my ass, he barely gave us any fucking warning.” Dyno rolled over and groped at me. “You okay?”

I nodded and returned to my feet. The air felt hot and when I looked up, flames licked out of a broken window directly above us. Through a long entryway just ahead of us, a set of doors groaned and buckled with the force of people on the other side, desperate to make it out.

Dyno and I headed straight for those doors without another word. Upon closer inspection, we saw that they had been barred with a long two-by-four drilled directly into the doors. Holy shit, they fucking barricaded everyone inside!
