“Fuck that shit! This is my sister they took.”

“Yeah? And they killed my brother,” Chaos states, venom laced in his voice. “After torturing his woman in front of him for fuck knows how long. Then they lit him on fire and let himburn to death while they raped and murdered her. So don’t think for a fucking second you have any say here.”

It’s rare that Chaos loses his cool. He easily controls the room, and that’s just one of the many reasons he’s so good at what he does. Leading us. I know there’s a sting of jealousy when it comes to Sawyer. Camden let me go, and in his eyes, I replaced my family with Sawyer’s.

He doesn’t trust easily, and he doesn’t let outsiders in. In his eyes, Sawyer’s a threat.

“You think I don’t know that shit? You think I don’t know every fucking thing that went down in vivid detail? I may not have been there through it, but I was there after. It kills me what Reid went through, and that extends to you. I’m here for my sister as much as I am to fight for him,” he yells, pointing at me. “You don’t have to like me. You don’t have to like the situation. But I’m not going anywhere. I’ll respect your rules, I will follow your lead. But I’m fucking going and we’re going to end every single one of these assholes.”

Chaos sits back in his chair and crosses his arms over his chest, aura of calm and collected firmly back in place as he studies Sawyer’s face.

“Okay,” he finally states. “Reid trusts you, and I respect you. I don’t know you, so I don’t like you, but we can do this together.”

The three of us stand to leave his office, Chaos leading the way, shouting out orders and calling for Malice and Wrath.

“You ready for this?”

“Yep.”

“We’re in Chaos’ wheelhouse now. Get ready, there’s a reason that’s his road name.”

“He seems pretty stable and straightforward,” Sawyer says.

“That’s just one side of him. The other? You’ll see . . .”

Malice is waiting in the hallway with Wrath, the patchworktattoos that I’ve inked on him over the years on full display under his cut.

“Don’t you own a T-shirt, Malice?”

“What fun is that? Only wear jeans ’cause Prez tells me I have to.”

“What the fuck?” Sawyer asks, shaking his head.

“Brother, no one here wants to see what you got goin’ on between your legs. Keep that shit in the dungeon.”

“The dungeon?” Sawyer repeats.

“You wanna see it?” Malice asks, his eyes glinting with mischief, and I know I’ve gotta shut this shit down before he has Sawyer cuffed to his Saint Andrew’s cross.

“Fuck off with that shit, Mal. What’s the plan?”

Malice flips a switch, going into the details of the Iron Wolves compound and the plans to get in. Sawyer falls in line, listening intently and taking stock of how we’re going to execute this as efficiently as possible with little to no casualties on our side. There will be no survivors from theirs.

“Reid, you and Noose will tag team as road sergeant. Figure it out with him, don’t give a shit how you two do it, just get us there safely.”

“Done,” I reply.

After I connect with Noose and set a game plan we both agree on that gets us there without alarming the public or local police, I nod at Sawyer to follow me to the armory. Pulling out a handgun, I load the magazine, pressing each hollow point into its slot until it’s full, popping it into the well.

“You ever used one of these?”

“Not in a bit, but I remember the gist.”

“Safety’s built in. Rack the slide as soon as we get there, like this.” I pull back the slide, pulling a bullet into the chamber. “Point and shoot. Aim to kill, brother. We take no prisoners, except for one.”

“Got it.”

“You sure you want to do this? I never wanted this for you.”
