“You have no idea,” he murmured sleepily. “Give us a good head scratch between a pair of yummy thighs any day.” I couldn’t help but laugh at the image.

“You’d want to what? Just put your head between my thighs and let me play with your hair?”

“Don’t tempt me, woman, or I’ll wake you all the way up and make you do just that. Any day. Any time. Always.” His voice, gruff and rough with impending sleep, made me giggle. Where I had once thought Zeke was like two sides of a coin that conflicted one another, I now realized he was more of a gemstone. Multifaceted and with so many aspects and sides. I wanted to know each one of them. In time.

For now, I was content to cuddle up in his warm embrace and let sleep take me.

CHAPTER11

TALIA

“He did what?!” Delilah screeched through the phone. Ruth, who was on the three-way call with Delilah and me, seemed shocked into silence. Had I crossed a line in telling my new sisters-in-law about the sordid adventures of my marital bed?

“Oh no. Did I over-share?” I whispered, somewhat guilt-ridden.

“Oh, mercy, no!” Ruth giggled, and I instantly relaxed. “There is very little that you can’t share with us, Talia. If the boys have taught us anything, it’s the importance of having safe spaces and safe people to open up to.” Ruth’s insight and wisdom were not lost on me. I had never imagined having people in my life I could be this open with. It wasn’t that I wanted a dishonest life, but there were things in Zion that… well, certain things you just did not speak of. But that wasn’t the way of things with the Temple brothers. Not by a long shot.

“A kink journey of the five senses…” Delilah whispered, almost in awe.

“That sounds like some very spicy fun, right there,” Ruth giggled.

“Isn’t it though?!” I exclaimed. “I’m still completely befuddled by all of it, but in the best way,” I admitted with a giggle.

“So what was the sense for last night’s fun?” Delilah urged, her tone begging me for details.

“Last night’s lesson was on smell,” I sighed. Visions of last night’s scene flooded my mind, replaying each moment over and over.

“Smell? How does one take away smell?” Ruth questioned.

“It was more about replacing it than taking it away,” I explained. “He lit candles throughout the room. All I could smell was this incredible sweet sandalwood and vanilla fragrance. It wasn’t overpowering, but it was strong. He had me close my eyes, focusing on his words and that scent. I don’t know. It was like I was under a spell.” I sighed contentedly. The memory of that headspace, of sinking so deep into that moment, made my heart race.

“I know that feeling well,” Ruth interjected. “It’s hypnotic, like you’re in a trance, but so safe that you never want to come out of it.”

“So what did he do while you were in that state? How did smell play into it?” Delilah asked, pulling me back to the conversation at hand.

“He ended up pulling out a toy we had never used before. It was… intense is putting it mildly,” I huffed out a breath at the memory.

“I amliterallyon the edge of my seat,” Ruth giggled.

“You and me both!” Delilah joined.

“He told me about it before we began, which I was thankful for. But it’s like I almost forgot about it until he pulled it out mid-scene. He had placed a blindfold over my eyes and then,” I sighed heavily. “Then the sound filled my ears and I could feel so much fear and panic inside of me. But not the kind where you want to run away. I don’t know how to explain it.”

“I get that completely. It’s like… the fear and panic are there, but you also feel grounded in the moment and your purpose.” Ruth put words to the very emotion I had felt in that moment.

“Exactly, but then last night…” I trailed off with a sigh. “And when he pulled out the violet wand? God!”

“He didn’t!” Ruth exclaimed excitedly.

“He did,” I sighed happily.

“Wait, what’s a violet wand?” Delilah questioned.

“It’s a really interesting tool. It has a glass probe that glows violet — hence the name — when the electricity runs through it,” Ruth explained.

“And when it comes into close proximity to your skin, it has a violet arc of electricity that sort of zaps you,” I finished her thought.

“So he electrocuted you?!” Delilah exclaimed in mild horror. I couldn’t help but chuckle.
