“Malachi didn’t tell you?” Ruth asked, surprised.
“No, we got a little sidetracked,” I admitted, blushing again.
“Yeah, I bet you did,” Delilah teased.
“Be nice, Delilah,” Naomi chided.
“I’m always nice. What are you talking about?” she scoffed.
“Yeah, sure you are,” Naomi chuckled.
“Enough, ladies,” Ruth chided with a laugh. “Are you doing okay though, Eden? Finding out that Malachi was brought into the thrall of things with the Elders is no small detail.”
“I think so,” I answered honestly, my mind buzzing with thoughts, wondering why Malachi wouldn’t have told me. “I wish he had told me himself, but I can understand why he didn’t.”
“Not me. I would be livid if Ollie hadn’t told me,” Delilah scoffed.
“Malachi isn’t Ollie, though,” I sighed. “Kai is stubborn and closed off at the best of times. But we’re getting there.”
“I’m glad to hear it, Eden,” Ruth responded.
“It’s all so new still, but we’ve made headway. There’s that at least,” I admitted.
“Do you need to talk about it?” Talia asked. Their acceptance and open willingness to help touched me deeply.
“You can be honest here. We’re here for you. Trust me, we’ve all been through it,” Delilah admitted with a chuckle.
“Yeah, we have. It was hell when Gideon admitted everything to me. It’s still hard, truth be told,” Naomi added.
“It’s not been easy, but in some ways, it’s been the easiest thing in the world. Oh Christ, I’m not making any sense,” I groaned with chagrin.
“Actually, you make plenty of sense,” Ruth snickered. “These men make things so difficult and so easy all at the same time. To say it’s confusing is a gross understatement.”
“Exactly. When it’s good, it’s so good and so very easy to be open with one another. And other times he’s like a steel trap, making it impossible to garner any real insight. Then there’s me…” I trailed off.
“What is it you’re struggling with?” Talia asked with interest.
“It’s embarrassing, but I don’t know how to talk to him about… well, new things,” I struggled to find the words.
“What kind of new things?” Talia pressed.
“New sexual things?” Delilah tried, and I nodded before remembering that they couldn’t see me.
“Yes, new things when it comes to kink,” I admitted with a blush.
“Oh well, that’s easy. You just have to dig deep and find the courage to talk to him,” Delilah offered.
“Yeah, but it’s not always that easy, Delilah,” Talia reasoned. “I had a hell of a time learning to be that open with Zeke. But, at the same time, it’s true. You just have to bite the bullet and speak your truth.”
“How can I, when he is so closed off half the time?” I sighed heavily.
“Just tell him you need to talk. Usually, that will get their attention,” Ruth explained.
“I feel like I’ll just make a fool of myself,” I admitted.
“We all feel that way, even now. Don’t we, girls?” Delilah laughed.
“Really?” I asked, feeling a sense of camaraderie with my new sisters.
