Trinity wasn’t willing to bet on it. Grey did look stressed when she saw him. Not once did she ask him how he was doing. She just spazzed on him without so much as ‘hey what’s been going on?’ If he didn’t forgive her, he wouldn’t be wrong. She was indeed too old to be playing games. Trinity liked Grey. No matter how cool she tried to play it or how hard she tried to convince herself that he wasn’t her type, she couldn’t shake thoughts of him. Or his penis.
It had been an eventful day. Fatima and Trinity looked at venues for Winter’s bridal shower. Fatima and Winter were in charge of the bachelorette trip and the bridal shower, and her mother was helping Winter to plan the wedding. In true Jacobs’ girls’ fashion, the wedding was going to be spectacular. It was taking place in an actual castle.
Trinity had already started planning what games they would play, and she was looking at various caterers trying to decide which one she wanted to book for the shower. All the babies and weddings in her family were keeping her busy. Along with the classes that she taught. Though she ran successful businesses, Trinity never hesitated to go where she was needed a few times a week. Whether she helped Winter at the boutique, Chicago’s daycare, one of Wise’s businesses, or the group home, her family could count on her. Wise and Chicago did so much for her that she never asked to be paid when she helped out, but when they were washing their drug money, both men had her on payroll. She got paid weekly whether she helped out or not.
For years, she didn’t even have to touch the money that she made from her own businesses because the money she received from her brothers was more than enough for her to live off. After three years of not spending the money from her businesses, she was able to drop $250,000 down on her dream house and fill it with all new furniture. It never bothered her when people assumed that she didn’t have to work hard because her brothers spoiled her. She knew the truth. A lot of thought was put into every class that she taught, and she had excellent reviews. Just like her brothers, she loved money and was a hustler. She was in the process of becoming certified to teach microblading classes for eyebrows. Trinity could charge $1,000 for the class easily. Just ten people taking a class would be $10,000. And she could offer two to three classes a month just for microblading.
While Winter and Fatima chatted, Trinity stared down at her phone. She couldn’t shake thoughts of texting Grey. It wasn’t that she was above apologizing that had her hesitant to reach out. It was the fear of rejection. She would feel stupid if she apologized, and he ignored her.
“Earth to Auntie Trin,” Winter sang. “I said there’s only four weeks until the bridal shower. When you send out the invitations make sure you tell everyone to wear white. I’m the only one that will have on something with color. If anyone shows up in anything colorful, they’re not getting in.”
“You and this Bridezilla thing are getting out of hand,” Trinity groaned.
“Rules are rules, and they have to be followed. In pictures, I want to stand out. No one will even have to know me to look at the pictures and tell that I’m the bride to be.”
Fatima picked Winter’s empty wine glass up and refilled it. “You want more?” she asked Trinity even though her glass wasn’t empty.
“No. This glass will be my last until your bridal shower. I’ve been going too hard with the drinking lately. It’s making me more tired. I felt like I was going to pass out at the gym the other day. I can usually do at least forty-five minutes on the stair master, but I could only do twenty. I was sweating out tequila about to die.”
“I’m definitely about to stop drinking for a bit. The wedding is a while away, but alcohol puts weight on you, and it goes straight to my face. I don’t want a chubby ass face in my wedding photos. So, unless it’s my bachelorette trip or the bridal shower, I won’t be drinking like that myself.”
“Is Jaiseem having a bachelor party?” Trinity inquired.
“You already know he is. Him and the guys are going to Vegas to see a fight. You know he likes that boxer from Diamond Cove. Azon. They’re going to be there for three nights.”
Trinity had decided that Winter’s bachelorette trip would be Jamaica. Trinity and the girls had been to numerous countries. They didn’t have to go anywhere super extravagant for the bachelorette trip. They wanted to go where they would have a wonderful time, and it was between Jamaica and Cancun. It wasn’t hard to choose the place that would have the sexiest men and good ass vibes. Trinity loved Jamaica.
Picking up her glass, she drained the contents and stood up. “It was nice hanging with you girls today. I’m going home to get some rest. I’m going to visit Intellect and his parents tomorrow.”
Intellect had been born at three AM that morning. Wise sent pictures to everyone, and Trinity decided she’d let everyone else get their visits in, then she’d stop by. Lauren was adjusting well. Her and Justice took turns with the baby, and Glorine was there helping out. She was going to leave and go help Wise and Natalie, and Lauren was going to get a night nurse for four weeks. For five nights a week, the nurse would be there to tend to Sage when she got up at night. That way, Lauren would be well rested to wake up, deal with the kids, and have the energy to bond with Sage. She breast fed during the day, and they used bottles when Justice or Glorine fed her. She would also of course use bottles with the night nurse.
At home, Trinity took a shower, warmed up leftovers, and ate her meal in bed while watching a movie. The moment there was a scene with the man and woman in the movie getting it on, her body began to heat up, and she once again thought of Grey. There was no roster. Trinity didn’t have a list of men that she could call to soothe the ache in between her thighs.
“Ughhhhh.” Snatching her phone up with a groan, Trinity decided to stop being a pussy and reach out to him.
Grey: Hey. You were just on my mind, and I wanted to reach out and apologize to you about the other night. I was a brat. I’m truly sorry.
Trinity finished her food and snuggled up underneath the covers to watch the rest of the movie. By the time it ended, she realized it had been almost an hour, and Grey hadn’t responded. Oh well. She tried. Trinity wished she could take her bratty and selfish behavior back, but she couldn’t. The next best thing was her taking accountability, which she’d done. It wasn’t her fault if Grey didn’t forgive her. It wasn’t his either. She had shown her ass, and if he decided dealing with her was too much, she’d accept it. It might be the reality check that she needed to get herself together.
Her father was the first man that ever spoiled her, but Wise and Chicago did the real damage. Even Travis used to tell his sons that they were creating a monster. Maybe they had. Trinity stared up at the ceiling while she contemplated whether or not she needed to change. She loved her life. She loved herself. She had spent so much time telling herself that she could live a wonderful, fulfilled life even if she didn’t get married and have children. She went so hard to prove to herself that she didn’t need a man to be happy that putting forth her best effort was never at the forefront of her mind. It was always the man that needed to prove himself to her.
Turning over on her side, Trinity closed her eyes and willed sleep to come. Another thing her father used to say was that worrying and stressing never changed a thing. She could decide to be better moving forward, but sulking over the past wouldn’t get her anywhere. It was what it was.
Fatima smiled as GiGi and her assistant gave Star and Shai’Ann their swimming lessons. “They look so much like you it’s crazy.”
Esco felt like he wasn’t even blinking. He refused to take his eyes off his kids. He was sure GiGi was good, but he wasn’t trusting shit when it came to his kids and the water. “I know right. Definitely what I would look like as a girl.” Esco allowed his eyes to dart around the complex for a few seconds before he went back to watching GiGi like a hawk. “This is a nice ass crib. Anyone with common sense knows Wise is living large but got damn.”
Esco couldn’t fathom living in a house of that magnitude. Wise was a straight hood nigga living like a professional athlete, rapper, or actor. Shit, he was living in a nicer house and neighborhood than a judge Esco knew.
“Everyone says that when they see the house for the first time. I’m used to it, I guess. It is nice though, of course.”
“That’s why I go so hard. The way this shit is regular to you, and if some nigga dangled the same kind of house you wouldn’t be impressed, that’s how I want my shorties to be. Not easily impressed by these raggedy ass niggas.”
His comment made her snicker. “Not a man admitting that these men are raggedy.”
“Not all of them, but I won’t even cap. A lot of these niggas are bogus. Look at the guys that robbed you and Heiress. Lame as fuck.” He shook his head at the recollection.
“My sentiments exactly. How is Shai’Ann warming up to you?”
