“My eyes bigger than my stomach. I’m stuffed but I can’t stop eating.”
“Shit fye. They not shittin’ on the Chi, but they close, real close,” I said in between bites.
I paid our tab, then we were finally headed to our room, and it didn’t take long for sleep to find us both. Tomorrow was a busy day for us both. In addition to my seminar, Claudia wanted to go shopping and to check out the Stratosphere, or The Strat as they called it, to overlook the city at the top. Then Sunday, we had a concert at the Sphere to see Post Malone.
Now that myseminar was over, and I networked with some very successful business like-minded people, I came and conquered what I needed for business, it was time to focus on my lady. Claudia and I were out shopping, we started at the Venetian and decided to walk the strip and stop at all the shops.
“I absolutely love this!” Claudia gawked at the iced-out Cuban and four carat E charm with the diamond studs to match. “You did good, baby.”
She gave me a kiss then ran her hand down my chest to my package. Hugging me she gave him a squeeze then licked me on the lips.
“You welcome.”
“Just wait til we get back to the room.” She winked at me then turned back to the mirror on the counter to admire her new drip.
I even got myself a pair of studs to match hers. I couldn’t help myself and I was frugal when it came to some things, but I didn’t mind spending when it came to Claudia. She was very special to me, and she deserved nothing but the best.
Claudia pulled her cell phone out so that she could google a nearby restaurant. Of course, we had worked up another appetite with all the shopping we had done. It was hot, and I was thirstier than a camel in Dubai.
“Oh no, my mom has called me a million times. Something must be wrong.”
“Did you tell her you were out of town?”
“I did, and I checked in with her when we made it. She never blows my phone up like this unless something is wrong.”
“Don’t think like that.”
We walked over to an area where we could sit, so that she could call her mom and see what was up. I prayed all was well because I had extended our trip to Tuesday.
“Hey ma, I just saw you cal—” She paused then put the phone on speaker but turned the volume down so that only she and I could hear, and it wasn’t too loud.
“Have you talked to Kimmie?”
I could hear the urgency in her mom’s voice.
“No, not since I left. What’s going on?”
“Karl is in the hospital?—”
“What did you say?!”
“I had to rush Karl to the hospital!”
It looked like Claudia wanted to cry, so I put my arm around her for comfort.
“Is he okay?”
“I don’t know. I’m waiting for the doctor to come tell me something.”
“Is he hurt? What happened?”
“I rather we don’t talk about this on the phone. Please try to get in touch with Kimmie and tell her she needs to get up here to Lake Forest Hospital as soon as possible.”
“We’re supposed to stay til Tuesday, but I’ll find a flight out as soon as possible.”
“Okay, baby, and I’m sorry. If you can’t find a flight, I understand.”
“Of course, momma, you know how I am about Mr. K. Let me try to get ahold of Kimmie. I’ll keep you posted.”
