“I know you lying, D! You shoulda told me and I woulda worn something else.”

“Ain’t shit wrong wit how you look.”

KK was wearing a spaghetti strap, short sundress, that was white with a lil blue in it. She wasn’t wearing a bra, but it wasn’t obvious. I knew though, and I also knew what that thong looked like underneath the dress. Just thinking about that phat ass made my dick ache. Her toes were painted with French tips just like her nails and that shit was always attractive to me. I hated to see females who didn’t keep their nails and feet done. The flat sandals she had on looked much better than the blue and white Dunks she had originally planned to wear. She looked sexy but still very presentable at the same time. It was perfect for the weather, being that it was a cool 95, but felt more like 105 degrees in the sun.

When we pulled up to my dad’s spot and parked in the driveway, I could tell from her facial expression and energy that she was nervous as hell. My pops lived in Clayton County, but we called it Clay Co in a town called Jonesboro. His house was in a small development that wasn’t too far from the courthouse and Clayton County jail. The area was decent, it kind of reminded you of the south side of Chicago.

“Lord let me check my hair. This heat probably got my head looking like Diana and Tracy Ross’s hair.” KK huffed looking into the visor mirror.

“Looks perfect to me.” I laughed, turning my car off then getting out, so that I could open the door for her.

When KK’s hair was straightened, it hung way past her shoulders but with it being curly, it hung just a little past her shoulders. I let KK walk ahead of me as I admired the view from the back. When we made it to the front door, I couldn’t help myself from slapping her ass then grabbing a chunk of it.

“Not you being fresh at yo daddy’s house.”

I couldn’t do anything but laugh. I rang the bell then knocked on the door four times, my signature move letting my pops knowit was me. I was the only person that rang the bell and knocked four times.

“Well, who do we have here?” My pops greeted, as he opened the door then stepped to the side. “You not scared of dogs, are you?” He asked KK and I could see on her face that she was uncomfortable…more like terrified.

“It depends on how big they are.”

“Well, come on in. Buddy ain’t nothing but a big old baby.”

“You shoulda warned me about the dog. You know you wrong for that.” KK smirked as she backed up behind me when Buddy walked up.

Me and my dad both started laughing.

“If I woulda told you he had a Cane Corso, I wouldn't have been able to get you out the car.”

Buddy greeted me then I introduced KK to him and my dad.

“Boy, I've been waiting to meet you. I’ve heard a lot about you, young lady.” I could tell my dad was excited.

He was telling the truth. He had heard more than an earful about the girl that had my heart back in Chicago. Especially since he had to pull some strings to get me out of jail after I had to whip her step-dad’s ass. Once KK warmed up to Buddy, he was stuck to her like glue. And she and my pops clicked right away. He brought out the picture book that he made with all of my college football pictures. He didn’t have very many pictures of my childhood, since he was in Georgia and I was in Chicago when I was a shorty. But he did have a few pictures of me as a shorty that he had taken before he moved south.

As he talked KK’s head off, I sat on the couch across from them and went through my work emails while trying not to make it obvious that I was watching them bond. I didn’t want to interrupt their moment, yet appreciated being able to still be a part of it even if it was only to be a witness of it. It was something that I had always dreamed about happening.

We stayed at my pops for a few hours, then his lady friend Ms. Leen showed up, so that was my queue that it was time to go. Pops had been seeing Ms. Leen from before I moved here. She just never moved in with us. She had her place, and we had ours. It worked for them and from what I saw, they were one of the best examples of a relationship I had ever been around.

“I love me some Poppa McKinley. When we first got there, I wanted to take off and run, but once I got used to Buddy’s gigantic ass and pops’ warm embrace, I was filled with so much love. I really wasn’t ready to leave.”

“I know, I had to tell you to come on five times.”

“It was not that many,” KK laughed. “Now I can truly say that I know what southern hospitality means. It’s really a vibe.”

“That’s what’s up.”

“When your pops said he’s been waiting years to meet me I had to fight back my emotions.”

“You’ve always had my heart. I just needed to grow up.” I reached over and held her hand as I coasted down Tara Blvd, headed to College Park.

I took the scenic route without jumping on the freeway on purpose. I wanted her to get the full ambiance of all that Georgia had to offer. The good areas from the suspect ones. The nice areas and what the ones people saw on TV really look like. Georgia had a lot of history both good and bad which was obvious because of history but when it came to visiting and living there, it had two totally different vibes. Being that I was from Chicago, I already came with enough street knowledge to not get caught lacking. Once you make it to the outskirts and out of the city, you get to see the shit they don’t show on TV.

“I’m enjoying the tour. I’ve only seen Georgia through the eyes ofLove & Hip Hop AtlantaandThe First 48.”

“Aww damn,The First 48, that’s cold-blooded.” I hollered but she was spot on. “No lies told, cause if you ain’t careful, thesouth can be a very dangerous place. They don’t call it the dirty south for nothin’.”

“That’s part of the reason why I was never pressured in wanting to come visit. There was enough drama at home, the last thing I wanted to do was take a vacation from Chicago to only have bigger drama here.”
