My breath hitched at the endearment and I obeyed, sighing as Lukas used the hand-held shower to rinse my hair clean.
"You always expect to be treated like shit?"
My eyes flew open, mouth gaping up at the ceiling. I glanced out of the corner of my eye and found the handsome centaur scowling at my shoulders, carefully rinsing every last soap bubble from my hair down into the milky soft water of the enormous tub. It was basically a swimming pool where I was concerned, big enough for even him to soak in, but he'd taken the time to fill it up, using an ungodly amount of bath product in it just for me, all while chatting with me about the jobs I'd done on the farm so far.
"N-no," I stammered out, and his eyes glanced up at me, one eyebrow arching. I flushed. "I don't—I'm not—" I frowned, thinking of Calvin and Barn Dude. Ihadn'texpected things to be so off with Calvin, at least. But… "I'm not necessarily…surprised," I murmured.
Lukas hummed, flicking the water off once more and setting the shower head back in its tall handle. He looked troubled…or maybe just thoughtful, and I suffered a queasy moment of heartbreak, wondering if I'd already messed things up with this absolutelyperfectman, when he reached for me. His arm stretched in front of me, grabbing onto my far shoulder, and I'd readied to turn into him, wanting to cuddle into that broad chest. And then his free hand snapped out, grabbing onto my freshly washed locks, twisting them in his grip.
I gasped, a little moan rising automatically from my throat.
Lukas smirked at the sound. "I don't mind treating you like my filthy little whore when we're fucking, Frannie," he purred. "The things you said you wanted…fuck, filly, I want that too. You have no idea."
I whimpered, held firmly in place, bobbing in the deep water and wanting to climb right out and into his arms.
"But, if you wanna be with a man like me, you're gonna have to startexpectingto be treated like a queen the rest of the time. You understand?"
"Lukas," I pleaded.
He arched the other eyebrow now. Maybe centaurs had the extra muscles up on their foreheads.
I swallowed hard and nodded against his tight grip. "I…wantthat," I whispered, my eyes filling.Damnit, Frannie, donotcry.
But nothing missed this man's steady gaze and he softened, hand sliding down to clasp the back of my neck, tugging me through the water to press against the side of the tub. I wrapped my dripping arms eagerly around his shoulder and tried not to weep as he laid those plush and beautiful lips against mine, soft and tender and so, so sweet.
"That's it, honey," he said, grazing his mouth over mine as I whined and stretched for more. "This is how it's gonna be now, hm? You had a rough time of it so far, but it's all right now."
I shuddered, not sure if he meanthereat the farm or just…life.
Lukas scooped me up out of the water, ignoring as it cascaded down over the edge of the tub and onto the tiled floor of his bathroom. His cabin was considerably more roomy than mine, but of course it had to be. His black armband was off now, left behind in the wreckage of the stall, and I probably owed Taylor a really big favor because no one had come to give us hell for that yet.
"Lukas," I started slowly as he carried me, cradled in his arms once more, over to an already laid out towel.
"Hm?"
He set me down, and the towel was warm. His eyes were focused on my skin in a not entirely innocent way as he delicately wiped away one water droplet at a time.
"I did…before I met you…here at the farm…umm…" I chewed over how to explain the others now. Because it had seemed okay at the time to fool around with other centaurs, and now I was wishing I really hadn't somehow.
"Frannie," Lukas said gently, pausing in his task to lean in, one arm braced by my hip, his other hand catching my chin, thumb stroking my jaw. "It's okay, filly. A girl's gotta try a few saddles out before she knows the one who fits her best, yeah?"
I groaned, hiding my face against his shoulder. "You knew?"
"Could smell 'em on you," he said. My groan deepened and he just laughed, his body jostling me with the warm sound. "Not anymore, though. Stuff in the bath is good for washing off scents. Unfortunately, you don't smell like me now, either. But we can set that to rights later."
"Later?" I asked, frowning and leaning back.
He laughed harder. "Shit, you're impatient. What did I say?"
I huffed and fought the roll of my eyes, batting my lashes instead. "But I'm feelingveryqueenly now."
Lukas grinned and nipped my lips, but darted out of reach before I could make more of the kiss. "A good centaur mate's got to do a little more for his filly than washing another's scent off her. Which, by the way, I don't intend to do again," he said, eyeing me darkly.
"I don't want anyone else," I said quickly, because I wasn't stupid and even if it got better than this man, some other lucky girl could have that one. I wasallgood.
"And I don't intend to let you leave here wearing anybody's scent but mine," Lukas said, bright smile back in place and eyes on my thighs as they pressed together. He sighed and shook his head. "When's the last time you ate?"
"This morning at breakfast," I said, shrugging.
