His face lit up. “Excellent.”

“Agreed.” I grinned back.

Liam dropped his hands from my shoulders. “Thank you for giving us another chance,Girlfriend.”

“Mmm,” I hummed. “I like that title.”

His arm wrapped around my waist, tugging me toward him. His finger traced along my jawline. Shivers exploded across my neck. “I do too.”

Rising on tip-toes, I closed the distance between our lips, capturing his with mine. This time, I didn’t plan on holding back. I had months of longing built up. I released it as I crashed my mouth against his. I slid my arms around his back, feeling the tight muscles around his shoulder blades.

The ache of missing him burned away as heat blazed a path from my chest to my lower abdomen. My heart pounded wildly. His strong hands flexed around my hips.

Liam backed me up against the vinyl-siding as he intensified our kiss. He tasted like the s’mores we had for dessert. I let out a soft moan as his mouth danced with mine. I made the right call to give him a second chance. No one had kissed me like this before and I was a thousand percent certain no one ever would again. Liam was mine, and I was his. We continued to explore one another, getting reacquainted. I had nowhere in the world I’d rather be than right here, being kissed by this marvelous man. All the while, my insides heated and sparked to life.

After my mouth was thoroughly explored, Liam leaned his head away from me.

I whimpered.

He placed one more soft kiss on my lips before taking a full step away. His lips were swollen, his pupils large.

Sign me up for another round of that, please!

“I’ve missed you,” Liam breathed. “But if I don’t walk away right now, I won’t be able to stop.”

“One more for the road?” I begged with puppy-dog eyes.

“Come here, you temptress,” he growled.

I grinned as he pulled me into his arms once more, kissing me as if this would be our last. I didn’t mind, even when the shouts of glee came from the other side of the door.

Sadly, Liam cared. He pulled back, kissing me one last time with such tenderness, I almost cried at how sweet it was. “Good night, Avery.”

“Night, Mr. Knight.” I slyly grinned at my pun.

“How was it?” Amy asked, bouncing on her heels.

“Did you not see that kiss?” Anna’s eyes were as wide as the Mississippi River. “From the looks of it, they’re back together.”

I pinched both their sides.

“Ouch,” they yelped and jumped away from me.

“What was that for?” Anna demanded.

I pointed to the door behind me. “For staring at me and Liam on the porch. Haven’t you heard of privacy?”

Anna folded her arms across her chest. “We wanted to make sure we didn’t need to beat Liam up.”

I rolled my eyes. “Even if it ended badly, I don’t need you to fight my battles for me.”

Anna’s brows raised in disbelief. I got it. They saw the mess I turned into after the last time. I didn’t blame them for watching out for me. I just hoped this time around we had a different ending than before.

Amy led me to the couch. “Tell us about the date.”
