“Okay.” He took a bite of his sandwich.
“In high school, I had a crush on this guy for so long. I finally worked up the courage to ask him to the girls' choice dance. To my complete and utter shock, he said yes. We had a lot of fun that night and eventually started dating.”
My hand fisted. I’d vaguely told Liam about my exes, but not this story. “He was so sweet and said all the right things. I fell so hard for him. I found out two months into our relationship that he’d been seeing another girl from a different high school at the same time as me. Even though I knew you were nothing like him, I still always wonderwhat-if, you know? The same thing happened to me in college. My radar is off when it comes to judging snakes, and I really didn’t want you to be the same.”
He tapped the back of my hand with a finger. “Thank you for explaining that to me. Do you trust me enough now to know I’d never do that?”
I quickly wiped my fingers on a napkin before taking hold of Liam’s. “With my whole heart. I do. You’re amazing, Liam. I’m so happy you’re in my life.”
“Good. Like I said, I’m nothing like your exes. When I’m in, I’m all in.Youare it for me.”
I swiped at a piece of hair that fell out of my ponytail. “So, all the women flirting with you today didn’t spark any interest on your side?”
He held eye contact with me. “Not a single one.”
I brought his hand up to my lips and a kiss on his knuckles. “I’m glad you’re mine.”
He smiled with soft eyes and glowing cheeks. “Me too. But we better eat and get back to work.”
My brows raised. “You’re seriously staying?”
“Are you kidding me? I’ve had so much fun today. I’m there as long as you are.”
My jaw dropped. “Until six o’clock tonight?”
“My girlfriend is working. What else am I supposed to do?”
“Literally, anything you wanted.”
His grin turned calculating. “And what if that’s kissing you?”
Heat blazed a path from my head to my toes. “Then I’d better hurry and eat.”
Thirteen
FrostingswasclosedonSundays and never before had I needed a break this badly. I slept in until eleven, at which time Liam magically appeared as if he had some sort of alarm that triggered when my eyes opened.
His gorgeous curly brown locks were wet, and he bent to give me a kiss in the hallway. I turned my head to the side, dodging all advances.
“What?” He complained.
I held up a hand. “I need five minutes.”
I spun on my heel back to my bedroom. I grabbed the first bra I found (yay, my old nasty one), hastily buckled it, and bee-lined it to the bathroom where I spent an extra minute flossing and brushing. Dental hygiene wassuperimportant when one was swapping germs with their boyfriend.
I threw my fluffy air-dried hair up in bun before stepping out in the hallway again. Liam remained where I first saw him. “Now I’m ready for you to be close to me.” I threw my arms around his neck, placing a firm kiss on his lips. My tummy swooped when he returned the kiss. “Good morning,” I mumbled against his mouth.
“Morning. How did you sleep?”
I answered between kisses. “Good.” Oooohhh, his lips were soft. “You?”
“Ffime,” he mumbled against my lips.
I chuckled, my lips still pressed to his. Liam laughed, pulling away from me.
“Hey,” I complained.
“Sorry.” He rubbed his bottom lip. “It tickled.”
