“Because of us.” Mom kissed Dad on the crown of his head.

“And I’m out.” I stood, waving goodbye as I went.

Yes! Claire just might be the answer to our problems. I couldn’t wait to meet her. Maybe she’d be able to start right away? Oh shoot, if she was coming next week, I’d have to make sure it was before I left for Glacier National Park with Ty. Our Lake Mary trip was finally approaching, and I couldn’t wait. My love life might be in the pits, but I still had moments to look forward to.

CHAPTER 22

Me:It’s moving day!! [GIF of someone screaming in excitement] How excited are you?

T-Rex-Ler:Ask me tomorrow.

I chuckled at his response. I’d never met someone who enjoyed the process of moving, so I didn’t blame him for his attitude.

Me:You hired movers. How hard can today be?

T-Rex-Ler:I didn’t realize how much crap I had. Besides, I have to unpack it all. Not to mention the kitchen is incomplete. I should’ve waited to move until it was done.

I doubted he had as much stuff as he claimed. Ty kept a clean and clutter-free home.

Me:It won’t be so bad. You can come eat with me whenever you want.

T-Rex-Ler:You’ll get sick of me.

I laughed.Me:Impossible.

T-Rex-Ler:Challenge accepted.

Me: [crying laughing emoji] I’ll be there at one. What time is Charlie going to be there?

T-Rex-Ler:Ten.

Me:Good. You need some bro time.

T-Rex-Ler:Don’t ever say that again.

Me:Bro time.

T-Rex-Ler:You’re a pest. I’ve got to go. The movers are here.

Ty and I spent the last week painting the rest of the house and practicing his presentation. The second we finished today, I was taking a long, hot bath. My muscles screamed each morning when I cooked breakfast. A good soak would do wonders.

When I got to Ty’s house, the moving truck was half empty. A few men with shaggy beards and ox-like shoulders, hauled box after box into the house. I paused on the front walkway, waiting for a mover with three boxes strapped to a dolly to go ahead of me before I followed inside.

After checking the main floor for Ty, he was still missing. My fingers trailed along a tower of boxes as I went toward the staircase. Muffled voices carried down the hall to the top of the stairs. I walked toward the master, but I paused when Ty’s brother’s voice slammed into me.

“Tell her!” Charlie’s low timbre bellowed. My heart quickened its pace. Was something wrong?

“Don’t you think I want to?” Ty growled back.

Noted. The walls were not soundproof in this house. Good thing I only jokingly asked Ty if I could live here. I shuddered at what I would hear if he brought a girl home.

“Looks to me like you’re being a big wimp,” Charlie shot back.

“I can’t lose her,” Ty said, frustrated. “And it’s too soon, anyway. She’s not ready.”

Whowere they talking about? Why was it too soon? Too soon for what, exactly? And who couldn’t Ty lose?

“And what if she moves on permanently? That almost happened. Are you ready to accept that it could happen again?” Charlie challenged.
