He reaches for another photo in the box—one I’d almost forgotten about. It’s my brother, Atlas, and I at the state fair, cotton candy in hand, my head thrown back in laughter.

“Remember this?” he asks softly.

“I remember everything. I almost told you that night. But then at the end of the night, you and my brother ditched me and I had to call my mom for a ride home.”

His eyes go big. “Yeah, your brother didn’t always want to have his little sister hanging around. That was his bad boy phase. Didn’t last long, though.”

I pull him close. “About that christening schedule...”

His eyes darken slightly. “Yes?”

“I think we’ve unpacked enough for now, don’t you?”

In one fluid motion, he stands and pulls me to my feet, books forgotten. “More than enough. Very productive morning.”

I squeal as he lifts me, my legs wrapping around his waist instinctively. “Where to next?”

“Office seems appropriate,” he murmurs against my neck.

“Very professional of you,” I manage to say before his lips find mine.

ATLAS

Things have been great. It’s now been a week with us living together and we haven’t even so much as argued. Everyone says that’s not normal, and it’ll come, but I highly doubt it. The thing is, we know each other so well. She knows that I’m particular about my living space. I hate dirty clothes on the floor, just as much as she can’t stand dirty dishes in the sink. We work as a team.

My phone buzzes on my desk.

Eva: Still thinking about me?

I adjust my pants.

Me: Always. How is the office? Enough sunlight and inspiration?

She has been loving the natural light from the bay window and it’s made her work from home job even more enjoyable.

Eva: I’m already done for the day. Waiting for you to come home.

Another message comes in, but it’s a picture of her laying on top of her desk in lingerie. Oh, my! I’m the luckiest fucking man alive! I’ll die on that hill.

Me: On my way.

I close down my laptop, tell my assistant I’m leaving for the day, and practically sprint to my truck and take off toward the house. When I arrive, she’s still in the office. Though she’s not on top of the desk, which is where I wanted to find her.

“Why’d you move?” I start taking off my clothes. “I can’t wait to take that off of you with my teeth.”

She smiles at me wickedly, leaning back in her office chair, those long legs crossed at the ankles. The black lace hugs her curves in all the right places.

“I thought I’d make you work for it,” she says, her voice low and teasing. “You can’t always get exactly what you want, exactly when you want it.”

I kick off my shoes, my shirt already on the floor. “Is that so?”

“Mmhmm.” Eva stands up slowly, running her hands down her sides. “Maybe I want to be chased a little.”

The sight of her has my heart racing. I stalk toward her, watching her eyes darken with desire.

“How’s this for chasing?” I reach for her, but she dances away, laughing.

“You’ll have to do better than that.”
