Or Bridget.

Or Scarlett.

In fact, can we just agree that what happens in this chat stays in this chat?

Russ

My lips are sealed. So, do we throw a party to celebrate you finally admitting how you feel about her after YEARS?

Ronan

We should celebrate in person. I could use a quick holiday.

Luc

Same.

Russ

I could sneak away for a day or two, but my schedule is fucking brutal. I’m not supposed to be in New York until December.

You guys don’t need to come, but it would be great to see you all at my last game of the season.

Luc

What do you mean your last game? I thought you weren’t retiring for a few more years.

Russ

What about playoffs?

You know I’m finishing strong, but I’ve decided this is my last year.

Russ

I don’t know if I should congratulate you or give you shit.

Ronan

At this point, Russ will be the only working man between the four of us.

Luc

Don’t make me feel old.

We’re almost late for our call with Vicky. See you all in a few.

I start the video call on my laptop and am more nervous than when I was meeting with HR today. The guys pop on one at a time, and despite the squares feeling a little like theBrady Bunchintro, all eyes are on me—or at least it feels that way.

“Welcome, gentlemen,” Vicky greets. “I hope you all had a great weekend. Who would like to get started first?”

Ronan’s grin is wide as he replies, “I think I speak for all of us when I say we’d love to hear from Will.”

“I second this,” Russ quickly adds, entirely too excited for me to share. Over the past year or so, he’s gone from a grumpy asshole to one of the happiest guys I know. His positivity is infectious, I just wish he wasn’t shining the spotlight on me.

Hands in surrender, I groan, “Fine.” I explain everything that’s happened since the gala—matching with Elle on the app, the game, dinner, her spending the night, and the meeting with HR. I leave out how she’s been hired by Québec City… and how the feeling of her coming around my cock is now burned into my brain as a core memory. “I know it’s moving wicked fast, but we’ve known each other for years. Is it too soon to admit I love her? Be honest.”

“No,” the guys say in unison, while Vicky takes notes. I should’ve known these three love-struck fools wouldn’t be any help.
