Jay Bird caught his arm, barely holding him back.“Nails, wait.”
But Adam looked up with a broken grin.“Well damn.If it isn’t the bouncer-slash-lover-boy.You were fucking her the whole time, weren’t you?”He taunted Nails.
Nails pulled away from Jay Bird.He landed a clean right hook to Adam’s face, sending him crashing back into the chair.
Nobody stopped him.
“Where is she?”Nails barked, his voice low and shaking.
Adam spat blood onto the floor and laughed.“Gone.”
“You’d better start making sense,” Ryan growled as he jumped into the ring with Nails.
Adam leaned back, cocky despite the blood.“Chen’s throwing a party. An auction.Riley’s the crown jewel.”
Nails’ world tilted.
“She’s already brought in more than a million in bids,” Adam added with a mocking grin.“And it’s climbing fast.”
Before anyone could speak, Secretary Boles’ voice sliced through the air.“We just got confirmation. There’s a dark web auction stream live. We’re mirroring it now.”
The main monitor flickered.A picture of Riley filled the screen, the photo clearly taken during her shift the night before, when she was in Adam’s suite.
Nails’ knees almost buckled.
Then the screen showed the bid: $1.3 million.
The room exploded with voices.
Adam laughed again.“I knew she was worth money the moment she walked into my club. Now, I hope she gets everything she deserves for betraying me.”
Nails lost it.He stormed forward, yanked his sidearm from its holster, and slammed it against Adam’s temple.“I will put you down right now.Where the fuck did they take her?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?”he taunted.
Nails pressed the gun harder against Adam’s head.“Don’t think I won’t kill you right here.”
“I have rights,” Adam sneered.
“I answer to a different law,” Nails hissed.“You think jail scares me?”
Everyone froze.
Finally, Adam’s arrogance cracked.His face paled.“Hainan,” he gasped.“The auction’s in Hainan.That’s all I know.Somewhere on the island.It’s only accessible by water.”
Nails released him with a shove.
Immediately, agents swarmed laptops and tablets.Maps of Hainan popped up.Intel streamed across screens. The room transformed into a hive of focused chaos.
Nails backed away, sank into a chair, and dropped his head into his hands. The image of Riley’s face burned behind his eyelids. He couldn’t breathe.
He didn’t even hear Joker approach until he dropped a hand on Nails’ shoulder.“Hey, man.You haven’t lost her. We’re going to find her.”
Nails didn’t lift his head.“She’s being sold, Joker. She’s on the damn market.”
“And we’re going to shut it down,” Joker said firmly.“We’re going to bring her back.”
Nails looked up, and his gaze landed on Riley’s phone still sitting on the table. And then it hit him.
