“You got this,” said Frankie. And then she tucked a key between my cleavage before hurrying after Chastity.

What the hell did she just slip me?I hid next to a plant and awkwardly fished it out. The key had a palm tree on it.

“What’s this?” I said way too loudly into my earpiece.

Chastity laughed. “Girl, chill. Just talk normally and I can hear you.”

“What is this key?!”

“Frankie says it’s your backup plan.”

“And why exactly do we need a backup plan? I thought you said the lines you’re going to feed me are gonna be flawless?”

“They will be. But Frankie is right that it’s smart for you to have a backup plan. Because the delivery is up to you. If it’s not going well, just pull out that key.”

“What room is this?” I knew it was for a room in the sex hallway. And I really hoped I didn’t have to use it. I just wanted to do a quick interview. And if the donor was suitable, I’d do an even quicker fuck. And then I’d be pregnant. Easy peasy.

“Ah! He’s here!” said Chastity.

The only person I saw was a tall blonde dude in a navy suit at the bar. He was slowly sipping on a martini. He kinda looked like Matthew Caldwell.

Oh God, why?

Wait, no.I took a deep breath.

This was fine. Because the two of us were cool.

But I still hated that this guy looked like him. And I definitely still hated the memories of the things I’d done to Matthew Caldwell. This was a date. Was I about to do them again?! I cleared my throat. “What do I say to him?”

“Just slide into the seat next to him and wait for him to make a move.”

Noted.I followed her instructions and slid into the seat.

He didn’t say a word.

I waited for Chastity to give me some kind of tip, but she was silent.

And I didn’t have all night. I wanted to go back to Tanner’s place and snuggle. What kind of weird date was this? Shouldn’t he have already been trying to fuck me against the bar?

“Should I elbow him?” I asked.

Chastity laughed in my ear and the guy turned toward me.

“Excuse me?” the guy asked.

“Nothing.” Shit, I’d already messed it up. “I mean...the bartender. Should I elbow him? What does a woman need to do to get a drink in this place?”

He smiled. “I’ve got you.” He waved over the bartender. “What would you like?”

There was no board of drinks here. And I wasn’t going to risk ordering something they didn’t have so that everyone could laugh at me. “I’ll have what you’re having,” I said. I was pretty sure that’s what sexy people said.

I cleared my throat as the bartender went to fetch my drink.

“Thanks,” I said. “I’m Ash, by the way. Which you already know. Because we’re on a date.”

“Are we?” he asked.

“Yes, we are.”
