I smiled and took a sip of champagne.
“I thought he was uptight because his bum hole was sore,” said his grandma.
I almost spit out my champagne.
“Because of gay back door things,” she clarified.
I laughed. Yeah, I’d gotten that.
Mr. Frost groaned.
I looked up at him. I don’t think I’d ever seen him embarrassed before. “Love you, babe.”
He laughed. “Love you back, babe.”
“You two are so cute,” said Linda. “So I know you met at work. But how did it become more?”
“He brought me soup when I got sick,” I said.
“Did you really?” asked his mom. “How thoughtful.”
“So thoughtful. I was so sick I thought I was hallucinating. Because he’d always been so mean at work.”
Linda laughed.
“He was mean because his bum hole was sore,” said his grandma.
“Grandma, please,” said Linda and turned back to me. “Please go on.”
“And we realized we just clicked outside of work,” said Mr. Frost.
“Clickity clicked,” I said. What am I saying?“Mr. Frost is much nicer in private.”
Silas laughed.
“Did you just call him Mr. Frost?” asked Adriana.
I felt my face growing red. “Yeah...it’s...um...”
“Usually reserved for the bedroom,” said Mr. Frost.
My face had to be scarlet.
Linda cleared her throat. “When do you think the wedding will be? We have to make sure the two dates aren’t too close.” She nodded at Silas and Adriana. “There’s so much planning.”
“The sooner the better,” I said as I emptied my champagne glass.
Mr. Frost nodded. “That’s the plan.”
I smiled. I couldn’t believe we were actually pulling this off.
His arm was starting to feel more relaxed around me.
His grandma pushed her sunglasses up again and stared at the two of us. Her eyes grew round. “I can’t even believe it,” she said.
I leaned over and kissed Mr. Frost’s cheek to really sell it.
“Definitely a Christmas miracle.” She let her sunglasses fall back into place. “My Christmas wishes have been answered.”
