“Not mine.”
“Yes it does. It worked when we were all in India.”
“I don’t think so,” I said.
“Okay, well...fine.”
“Great. I’ll swing by later to hang out with Brooklyn and my grandkids. Bye.”
“Wait! Don’t hang up!”
“Was there something else?”
“Was there something else,” Matt muttered under his breath. “I haven’t spoken to you in a month. Is there anything you’d like to tell me?”
“Nope.”
“Dude, come on.”
I shrugged. “Okay. I know what you want. I missed you, Matthew.”
“What? No. I’m talking about something important.”
“Nothing important has happened.”
“Seriously? You havenothingto update me on?”
“You’re acting like I bought another soccer team without your consent...”
“I’m not talking about a freaking soccer team. I’m asking you if you have any important life events to update me on.”
I leaned back in my chair. “Nope. Can’t think of anything.”
“Seriously? What about Ash?”
“What about Ash?”
“A courier just delivered a Save the Date to me. For Ash and Xander Frost’s wedding.”
Well that was fast. What was her game here? “Oh, that.”
“Oh, that? Tanner, what the hell is going on?”
I laughed. “I actually have no idea what in tarnation is going on with that.”
“Did you not know?”
“No, I did. She told me last night.”
“I’m so confused, what is happening?”
“It appears as though my girlfriend is marrying another man. It’s the darndest thing.”
“Tanner, why don’t you sound upset?”
“If I act hysterical Nigel might drug me again. And honestly, I’m more confused than anything.”
“The last thing you told me was that you were in love with her. And then you disappear for a month and now...this?”
