Nature, who danced in front of me, giggled and rolled her eyes. I knew that her freaky ass husband, Storm, wasn’t too far away, and neither was Wynter’s crazy ass husband, Frost, who owned the club we were in, Black Diamonds. He was sitting in the VIP section with Storm and Peace’s adorable husband, Love. So if things went south, they would be right here on this nigga’s ass because they were as protective over their wives’ friends as they were their wives.
“Oh shit, Mya,” Verity, who danced beside Nature but faced me, stated after a couple of minutes.
“What?”
“Trouble. Six o’clock.”
I turned my head to look over my shoulder, and the man holding my hips turned to look too. But since he wasn’t sure what he was looking for, he continued holding me and dancing. I scanned the club for a few seconds before I spotted exactly what she was talking about.
My stomach sank as I saw Fyve’s and Chosen’s fine asses strutting through the club with smiles on their faces. Well, Chosen was smiling; Fyve seldom did.
Chosen wore all black and a silver necklace and bracelet that sparkled against his beautiful mocha-colored skin. His black shirt was unbuttoned to the third button, showing off his tattoos. Fyve wore white jeans and a black V-neck shirt. Unlike Chosen, Fyve wore several platinum bracelets and a rope that gleamed against his hazelnut-colored skin. His T-shirt showed off those bulging muscles and those beautiful tattoos.
I rolled my eyes, feeling slightly nauseous. I had no right to be, but I suspected they were here to meet women. I was so deep in my feelings that I lost my groove, and my dance partner squeezed my hips to help me get back in sync.
Ironically, Bleu Harmony was singing her hit single “Can’t Get Over You” about losing a partner she would never get over, even if she met someone else. Time stopped as both men stopped on the other side of the dance floor and looked dead at me. It was impossible to ignore them as Fyve elbowed Chosen, who narrowed his eyes in anger at me.
It caught me off guard because he was so sweet and patient, but tonight, he looked like he wanted to body a nigga.
“Oh shit,” Tessa, who was on my other side, stated as Fyve and Chosen walked onto the dance floor.
“Let me holler at you for a sec, beautiful,” Chosen stated when they reached me.
“Nigga, don’t you see me dancing with her?” my dance partner asked.
Before a word could be said, Fyve went straight into his jaw and knocked the man out. People screamed and either backed up or drew closer to get nosy.
“Fyve, you can’t be doing that shit in here!” I shouted.
“Listen, you two have to get out of here before my husband loses his shit,” Wynter warned.
“I ain’t got no problem with Frost. He’s the OG, but I’m not about to have a nigga disrespecting me or my woman,” Fyve declared.
“I’m not your woman,” I argued.
“That remains to be seen,” Chosen stated and lifted me over his shoulder.
“Put me down, Chosen!” I screamed as he carried me off the dance floor while people just moved out of his way without question.
Fyve and I were on the prowl, looking for something to get into. I wouldn’t lie; I was missing Mya like hell. Although I wasn’t in the mood to be bothered with another woman, I knew that I needed to get out of the house. I hadn’t done anything but go to the shop and come home and draw. When Fyve dropped by and saw all my sketches were of Mya, he suggested we head out for the night.
He’d come by my house after work, saying that he couldn’t get her off his mind. He needed to get into something else to break the stress of losing Mya.
I couldn’t believe that not only had she played us both but that she hadn’t even reached out to either of us. Sadly, as we drove, I asked Fyve if he would go back to her if she called. Hereplied, “Man, hell yeah, in a heartbeat. Ain’t no woman like her in the world. She’s my peace and my calm. Besides, she’s right. We never talked about being exclusive. In the first four months of being with her, I was dating other women too.”
“I never did. It was always her from the start. She inspires the hell out of me. I’ve never created art as beautiful as I have since I’ve been with her. Her heart is so beautiful, and she demonstrates it in how she cares about me. She believes in me, and she’s the reason that I’m opening a new shop. I can’t do this shit without her, man.”
I drove the rest of the way to the club in silence. When we arrived, the hotties were all over us from the minute that we stepped out of the car. That wasn’t unusual, but I wasn’t feeling any of them.
We gave them the necessary attention and kept it pushing, making our way inside the club. We had only been inside for five minutes and made our way to the second floor before we spotted her. I didn’t care if she hadn’t called either one of us. I wasn’t about to let her just play with my heart and walk out of my life.
In no time at all, I was on the floor with Fyve right beside me.
“Let me holler at you for a sec, beautiful.”
The man dancing with her had the nerve to open his mouth. “Nigga, don’t you see me dancing with her?” He barely finished the sentence before Fyve bust him in his shit.
All hell broke loose as Mya and her friend warned us to get out of there.
