Abbott shrugs.“I have no clue who Evina Trent is.I only know Vance Olson and his son Pete.Evina and Vance don’t even share a last name. How the hell was I supposed to know they were related?”

Shit. He’s right. Not to mention, Evina refused to leave the house for the past few years. The few times she left were when I dragged her to get eyeglasses, then the doctor due to the pressure in her eye, and the fact she was legally blind. She needed surgery, and we had one eye done when she fell sick.

The reminder of the past few weeks hits me, along with all the weirdness being dumped at Evina’s doorstep...my doorstep.Shit.That’s the reason why Vance was here. That fucking asshole.

Anger overtakes everything inside me, and I whirl around to tell Delcy, “That motherfucker was here to tell me he wanted me out of his house. How all of this was his.The fucking nerve.Stealing from his own mother.Beating her when she didn’t want to give him money to buy drugs. He didn’t even care about her.Never once got sober, no matter how many times she offered to pay and support him, to better himself or visit her.”

Delcy steps closer and rubs my upper arms.“Don’t worry, Ry.We’ll figure it out. You’re not alone, okay?”

“What she said,” Layton grunts as he steps into the conversation and places his hand on my shoulder.

I mindlessly bob my head, not knowing what else to say or do.

“Can I ask a question?”Abbott rumbles.“Preferably without anyone biting my head off.”

Delcy swings her head in her brother’s direction and snaps, “What?”

Abbott slowly raises one of his eyebrows. We’re all glaring at him at this point and waiting for him to say something when Mina bumps her head against Abbott’s leg and loudly meows.

“Motherfucker.”He jumps sky high and I can’t help but laugh.

Delcy and Layton join in while Abbott is now glaring at all of us.

“It’s not funny. One day soon I’m gonna shoot the damn thing if it scares the crap out of me while I’m holding my gun,” Abbott grumbles.

His words instantly rip the laughter from me.“Then don’t carry a gun while you’re here.”

“I was pointing out how the hairy fucker likes to prank me, and I don’t react well when people, or animals for that matter, creep up on me,” Abbott fires back.

I step around Delcy and go toe-to-toe with Abbott.“Then maybe you should leave because the cat stays.”

He leans in, our noses are practically touching when he growls, “If you think I’m going to leave you alone after that fucker Vance showed up, you’re sadly mistaken.”

“Leave. This is not your fight.I’m sure there’s some form of legal integrity or violation for you to be wrapped up in this.”I throw my thumb over my shoulder.“My friends are here to help me.Friends I’ve known longer than the mere two hours or so you’ve been here.”

“Friends?”He jerks his chin in the direction of Delcy and Layton.“That’s my sister, and my VP.”

I place my fists on my hips and glare at him.“You can’t lay claim on my friends, they’re not yours, they were mine before I even met you.”

A bark of laughter rips from him, but it doesn’t sound all that funny.“Sweetheart, I’m the president of Triggerman Sins MC.I can lay claim on anything I fucking want. For instance, my cock just laid claim on your pussy seconds before Vance came knocking.”

One moment I’m facing Abbott, the next I’m staring at Delcy’s back.

“You fucked my friend?”Delcy seethes and shoves her brother.“Please tell me you tripped over the damn threshold and fell dick-first into her, because I won’t believe any other bullshit story you have to say.No.Damn.Excuse.You hear me?She’s my friend, asshole.Which part of off-limits didn’t get through that thick skull of yours?”

“Aren’t you the pot calling the kettle black here, sis?”Abbott taunts.“Need I remind you of fucking my VP behind my back and waiting to tell me until I was behind bars?”

Delcy pulls her arm back and swings it forward with force to hit her brother in the gut.“Not the same thing, asshole.”

I glance at Layton, who is clearly enjoying the bickering between siblings.

Smacking his arm, I snap, “Do something.”

Layton shrugs.“They’ll stop eventually; they always do.”

“Wimp,” I grunt, earning Delcy and Abbott’s attention to focus on me.

Abbott chuckles.“Did you just call my VP a wimp?”
