EPILOGUE

Ten years later

– RYETT –

The clubhouse is brimming with positivity.Smiles on faces, laughter along with cheerful voices.Music flows through the air, and my best friend’s daughter is dancing with my son.Cousins.Ten years ago, my best friend became my sister-in-law.

I still remember my wedding day as if it was yesterday.First Abbott proposed at the bookstore, then he took me to the clubhouse. The place was decorated with pink peonies, Evina and my favorite flowers, and everything was set for us to get married. Now, a decade later, we’re throwing a party to celebrate not one, but two special moments in our lives on this day.

Our son, Asher, was born exactly eight years ago today. He’s a year younger than his cousin, Ember.Abbott and I have one child while Delcy and Layton also have a seven-year-old son, Liam. The three of them are all close in age and grow up together, along with the other children of this MC.

At one moment in life, I found myself alone without relatives and only had my best friend’s shoulder to cry on.It made me realize how lucky I was to have her.If it wasn’t for her, I would have never met Abbott.

His protection, kindness, adoration, and eventually love changed my life.If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have all these friends surrounding us; a found family enriching our lives to the fullest.

“I like the smile on your face,” Abbott rumbles right next to my ear and at the same time his arms slide around my waist.

Turning in his arms, I let him know, “Good, because you’re basically the one who put it there.”

He gives my sides a gentle squeeze.“Don’t give me all the credit ’cause I happen to know for a fact that you’re the one who makes me a better person.”He nuzzles my neck and adds on a whisper, “I live to put that smile on your face from one day to the next.”

“Cut it out with all the mushy pre-fuck shit.Children are present and you folks either need to go on either side of the room or get a room.”Delcy’s tone might sound stern, but I know my best friend inside out and can detect the underlying laughter in her voice.

Glancing around Abbott, I narrow my eyes and tell her, “You might want to rebutton your shirt before you give us a lecture.Maybe check a mirror as well with the mussed hair.It kinda gives away the fact you and your old man didn’t get a room but hopped in the broom closet instead.”

Delcy huffs and quickly turns to rush in the direction of the bathroom, while patting the back of her hair.

A bark of laughter rips from Abbott.“You caught them going in or coming out of the closet, didn’t you?”

I look at my old man, my husband, the love of my life, and give him a brilliant smile.“I sure did.”

More laughter rumbles through him as he guides me in the direction of the bar.Kevon and Oswin are sitting next to their old ladies.Over the past few years more members have found love, and it’s expanded the brotherhood.A second generation grows up together, ensuring they follow in their parents’ footsteps.

“We’re about to head out,” Abbott says to my surprise.“Can you make sure the others know?Asher is staying with my sister, and I’ll see you guys in the morning.”

I’m completely flabbergasted when Abbott takes my hand and walks in the direction of the door.

“Wait, I have to talk to Asher,” I tell him.

Abbott stops and jerks his chin in the direction of our son.Asher is grinning our way and waves while Layton, along with Ember, and Liam, are surrounding him.

“He’s in on my surprise.”Abbot bends his knees and a gasp, along with a tiny squeal, rips from me when he easily scoops me in his arms and carries me out the door.

A laugh bubbles from me as he makes his way toward his bike.“A bike ride is the perfect surprise on this amazing day.”

A day that started with breakfast in bed by both Abbot and Asher, who made fresh orange juice, and baked pastries. There were flowers, a gift certificate to the clothing store next to my bookstore, and a gorgeous charm bracelet with a book, a dragon, a rose, a tiny wolf, and many other genre related bookish things.

We spoiled Asher with gifts as well, and baked two cakes together so we could bring one with us to the clubhouse. Most of the day was dedicated to charity, where the club delivered books around town, to the nearest hospital, retirement homes, and a few schools.Delcy and I always organize a day where people can donate money so we can buy books and deliver them to readers of all ages.
