I let my eyes move down from his face to admire him in a tux and my smile can’t help but to grow even more. This must be my favorite look on him, especially when his curls are gelled to perfection. I can’t wait to mess them up later.

Seeing him in a suit, though, will never beat seeing him in full hockey gear.

The man may stink like a pair of dirty socks at the bottom of a hockey bag that haven’t been washed in months half the time, but there is something hot about it.

My eyes travel back up to his face as I continue to walk closer to the alter and hold onto his gaze the whole time until I take my spot with the other bridesmaids.

He mouths ‘I love you’ and I instantly feel a blush creep up my cheeks. Even if we’ve been a couple for an official year, I will never get tired of hearing him say that.

I mouth the words back and our stares connect until the wedding march starts.

Both of us turn to watch as Selena walks down the aisle to Hunter.

After years, they are finally getting their happily ever after.

As I watch Selena walk down the aisle, with her mom and her dad at her side, I can’t help but feel so much love for her. She looks absolutely beautiful today, glowing in every single way.

I turn to look at Hunter for a quick second and see him wiping away a few tears as he watches his bride close the distance between them. Seeing him like that, brings tears to my own eyes.

Blake better have tears on our wedding day too, or I’m going to kick him.

All thoughts of violence go out the door as soon as Hunter takes Selena’s hand in his, after shaking her dad’s hand and placing a kiss against her mom’s cheek, and the ceremony officially starts.

For fifteen minutes, close to a hundred people watch as these two people that are made for each other, come together as one and there isn’t a single dry eye in the house. Everything about the ceremony is perfect, even more so when the officiant tells everyone in attendance that the two of them said their vows privately before the ceremony. Something that suits them both perfectly. I’m happy that they were able to get that moment for themselves.

Right before the exchange of the rings, I look around the couple and catch a glimpse of Blake.

He’s not looking in my direction, his whole concentration on his brother and new sister, so I take the time to admire him.

For almost twenty years, we have been in each other’s lives.

We have seen each other at our best and our worst. We have been there for each other when the other needed it most. Whether it was a shoulder to cry on, someone to laugh with or just to hold someone’s hand, we have been there for each other.

At five years old, I knew that Blake was going to be in my life for a very long time. I knew that he was always going to be there for me and I was going to be there for him. I knew that we were going to be best friends forever, before I knew what forever meant.

And he is. We may be in a different type of relationship now, but Blake will always be my best friend forever before anything else. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

There is no greater person that I would have loved to go through life with than him. He has been my everything since I was five years old and he will continue to be until the end of time.

Our love for each other has evolved into something unimaginable and unexpected. It makes me glad that my mom wasn’t able to tie my skates that day at the rink, because if she had, Blake and I wouldn’t be here right now.

We wouldn’t be engaged to be married. We wouldn’t have had our nights together. We wouldn’t have been able to move passed everything to do with Elijah and the dropping the charges against him. I wouldn’t be here, wearing the locket he gave me for my fifteenth birthday. So many things wouldn’t be what they are now.

Her not being able to tie my skates was probably one of the best things that could have happened to me.

Next time that I see her, I will thank her. She’ll think that I’m crazy, but I don’t care. It’s because of her, I’m close to marrying my best friend.

My attention comes back to the wedding when the officiant announces that Hunter can kiss his bride.

Everyone erupts and doesn’t hesitate to show their happiness for the couple. After years of being together, they are finally married.

Soon things shift to cocktail hour, to pictures for the families and the wedding party, and in a blink of an eye, dinner is done and people are dancing like there’s no tomorrow.

“Dance with me,” Blake asks, after spending the last five minutes talking to his dad, while I talked to Jainie.

I give my fiancé a smile and place my hand on his outstretched one and let him lead me to the dance floor.

A slow song is playing and a couples are filling the space getting lost in their little bubbles.
