“Come for me,” I growled.
Willow was a silent screamer. She buried her face against my shoulder as she cried out her ecstasy for only me to hear. Her body clenched around me, threatening to make me spill my seed.
I roared as I tilted her head back; my fangs descended as nature demanded. I sank them into the smooth skin of her neck. Blood coated my tongue as my venom made its way into her veins. My beast had no choice but to watch, his claim made.
I slipped out of her tight heat as the first spurts of my orgasm tore from my body, coating her sex in the spent frustration of my need.
The walls around us trembled.
Willow lay boneless beside me, clinging to my chest as I released my fangs. The bond slipped into place between us. A golden glow that pulled me toward my mate and banished the shadows to the corner of the room, which still trembled and swayed.
Maybe Earth approves,my dragon guessed as the small earthquake subsided.
Willow gasped as she clapped a hand over her neck, burying herself into the pillows and turning away.
“Does it hurt?” My voice came out hoarse, broken, as I pressed a kiss to the top of her head.
“Give me a minute.” She breathed heavily for a few agonizing moments while I sat powerless, watching her back rise and fall.
I told you!My beast roared, thrashing and raging within as he fought through my desire-riddled haze to resume his never-ending madness.
Goddess, what have I done?I stood, needing something to do. “I’ll get you a rag.”
When I returned to the bed, Willow was sitting up. A distant, gentle smile lined her face as she reached for the wet cloth.
“It’s fine. Don’t worry about me. I can get cleaned up.” She took the fabric from my fingers. “So that was… Wow.”
“Yes.” I watched the tightness of her eyes, the anxious furrow of her brow. Saw all the words she wasn’t saying.
“Did it work?” Her fingers brushed over my claiming mark like it was nothing as she moved to touch the sacred rune that had appeared on her skin.
“Yes,” I said again, taking a step back to gather my discarded pants off the floor.
“Hmm…” She worried her bottom lip a moment before that placating smile returned. “I supposed I thought we’d just know what to do as soon as it happened. That Earth would give some sort of sign.”
“She does if you listen.” I turned to the armoire, finding a shirt from the rack.
It was cute the way Willow cocked her head to the side, staring out the window for a moment before shaking off the spell.
“It’s not as if Earth speaks in our language,” I said. “You have to learn Hers.”
And even then, it was easy to get it wrong.
“Oh, I thought… Never mind.” Willow touched her chest. Her eyes shone with a playful light. “Do you feel this too or is it just me?”
I nodded at her as I buttoned up the shirt. My throat was too dry to speak.
Of course I felt it. I’d known from the moment I caught wind of her that this beautiful, delicate woman would be my mate.
And that I’d eventually destroy her.
“Where are you going?” Willow gathered the sheets to her chest.
I finished dressing and looked her over, hating myself for what I was about to do. “Don’t you have a daughter to attend to?”
“Excuse me?” The color drained from Willow’s face. “Is that how this is going to be?”
“What else did you expect?” I smirked. “You got what you wanted. You’re now tied to the prophecy and me for however long Earth allows us to live.”
