“I usually cook some eggs. And there’s plenty of time I don’t have to leave for nearly two hours.”

“Do you have something else you need to do?”

Madison shook her head.“No.I’m just in the habit of getting up early.I’m more of a morning person than a night owl.I have a couple of chores I can get started but nothing urgent.”She smiled up at him.“I was hoping you’d still be in bed when I woke.I was looking forward to seeing if morning sex was all it’s rumored to be.”

“I wish I’d known that. It’s a study I’d be happy to help you perform.”He bent and kissed the end of her nose.“Now that I know, we can try again tomorrow morning, if you’d like.”

“I’d like.”She moved close and rested her forehead against his chest.

“Good.”He wrapped both his arms around her shoulders, and rested his chin on top of her head for a few seconds. When she moved, he released her.“Now, tell me how you like your eggs, and I’ll cook breakfast.”

“Boiled, fried, scrambled, poached, I’m not picky but you don’t have to cook for me.I can fix us both breakfast.”

“Nope. You cooked last night.I’ll cook this morning.”He went to the refrigerator, opened it, and peered inside for a moment.“Hmmm.I see some things I can use to put together a meal.”He looked up at her.“Anything you want me to stay out of in here?”

“Nope. If you can find it in there, you’re free to use it.”

Talon nodded as he turned back to the interior.“Do you want something specific this morning or want to leave it up to me?”

“Surprise me.Want me to stay and talk to you while you cook, or do you mind if I start a load of laundry?”

“Go ahead.I’m good here.Do your thing.”

“Sweet, thanks.”She went to him and kissed his cheek before grabbing her coffee, adding sugar, and heading for the other room. She stopped in the doorway and turned back to look at him.“I won’t be long.Call out if you need anything.”

“I think I can handle it.”

On her way to the bedroom she sipped from the still steaming coffee and thought that all too easily, she could get used to this.

“What’syourplanfortoday?”Madison asked Talon as he followed her directions to take her to the store for her shift.

“I don’t really have one.”He glanced across the cab at her then turned his attention back to the road.Traffic was light but since he wasn’t familiar with the town, and they didn’t know if perhaps this Billy was following her, he thought it best to stay alert.

“You’re planning to just waste eight hours around town?I’m not sure there’s that much to do here.”

Talon laughed.“I’m sure I can find something to do.But I thought I might hit the local library and do a little research into Mr.Billy Morgan. There has to be more information out there. And the more we know about him, the better I’ll be able to make sure you’re safe.”

“There’s no reason to go to the library for that. You can use my laptop. It’s in the drawer of the table next to the sofa.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah. There’s no reason to fight for a public computer, nor to deal with the slow internet at the library.Trust me, it’s slow.I used it for a while before I got it hooked up at my place.”She shifted, digging her keys out of her pocket.“Here, let me give you a key so you can get back in.”It took her a moment to work the key off her keyring.

“That works.Thanks.”He fell silent for a couple of minutes then glanced over at her again.“You get off at what?Six?”

“Yep.”

“Then I’ll be here at a quarter till, just to be safe. You allergic to any food?”

“No.”She frowned at him.“Why?”

“I thought I might pick something up and make dinner tonight.”

“You don’t have to do that.”

“I know I don’t have to, but I want to.You’re working all day and I’ll just be doing some research. It’s not a big deal for me to get something started.Do you have a preference or something that’s a hard no?”
