“Good.”

They rode in silence for a while, just taking back roads where he didn’t have to worry about too much traffic and could let her enjoy the feeling of the bike and the freedom of the road.

All too soon they’d have to go back to the ranch and real life. He’d have to see what was going on with Morgan and if they’d figured out a way to make sure he was no longer a threat to Madison or if he and his brothers would have to take matters into their own hands. He’d rather they were able to do it the right way, but if they had to go vigilante, he was willing. If that was what it took to make sure she was safe.

He pushed his worries out of his mind and focused on the road, the freedom, and the woman at his back. Those were what mattered most. And he was going to enjoy every minute he had it.

They’dbeenridingforalmost three hours when he pulled into the yard at the ranch. He stopped in front of the barn where they stored the bikes and killed the engine. He’d make sure everything was good with Madison, then his brothers, then put it away in a bit.

He waited while she dismounted then he did the same, taking their helmets and putting them away before he went to her and pulled her into his arms.

“Well?Did it work?”

“That was great! The ride into town was fun, but after lunch, the just riding around? That was amazing.I never knew why people ride as much as they do, now I understand it.”She wrapped her arms around his middle and stood in his arms, looking up at him.

“Good.I’m glad you liked it.”He bent and kissed her, a long, lingering kiss that made his cock stiffen in his jeans. After breaking the kiss, Madison leaned back in his arms, glanced down to where their bodies met then back up to him.

“Does riding always do that to you?”she asked.

“That’s not because of the ride, little warrior, it’s what you do to me.”He wiggled his hips, grinding the bulge that was only growing larger with friction, into her belly.

Madison laughed and rolled her eyes.“You’re not full of yourself or anything.”She glanced around.“What time does Kerry normally start dinner?”

Talon checked his watch.“She’ll likely be starting any time now, why?”

“I thought I’d go help her.She shouldn’t have to cook for everyone all alone.”

“She won’t be alone.Even if Robyn’s not feeling better, now that the matter’s been brought to Lurch’s attention, he’ll have someone in there helping her.”

Madison shrugged.“Still, it gives me something to do, and it lets us talk and get to know each other.Unless you have something else we need to do, I’d like to go offer my help, at least.”

Talon shook his head.“I don’t have anything we need to do.If you want to go help, go ahead.”He leaned forward and kissed her forehead before releasing her.“I’ll put this away then go check with Jake and the others, see if they found anything new or if there’s anything I should be doing.I’ll see you soon.”He watched as she headed for the main house then opened the barn and put his bike away before heading into the bunkhouse to check on the latest news.

“Find anything new today?”he asked Jake when he found the chapter’s tech guy sitting in on of the recliners, his laptop open in his lap.

“Nothing remarkable.Gizmo’s talking to some contacts about what we found with the wife and Madison’s dad.No telling if it will go anywhere.”

Talon growled and resisted the urge to punch the wall.It would make him feel better in one way, but would end up hurting his hand more, as the walls in the bunkhouse were solid wood planks, not sheetrock that would just crumble.

“I wish there was more I could do.This sitting and waiting is driving me crazy.”

“Have you worked out lately?I don’t mean weights. We do enough moving hay, feed, and other shit around here to replace that. But sparing.A match against someone else. When’s the last time you went one on one with someone, even in a friendly match?”

Talon stared at his friend for a moment, wondering why he hadn’t thought of that. Now that Jake suggested it, it seemed obvious.

“Too long, obviously. You up for it?”

“Nah,” Jake said with the shake of his head.“I’ve got a few things I’m running that I want to keep an eye on.Plus, Heather should be back soon. You should go check with Malice. He said something about needing a workout. If he’s busy or you can’t find him, snag Colt.He could use the practice.”

Talon had heard about Malice being a hell of a fighter and wondered if Jake thought he was setting him up or if he thought it would be funny to pair the two without Talon knowing what he was getting into. That was okay.None of the brothers here had seen him fight before. He was no slouch. He rolled his eyes and went to look for Malice.

He found the ex-spotter at the edge of the small, wooded area behind his cabin, doing pull-ups on one of the lower branches on one of the trees. Not that the branch was low.Even with his arms fully extended over his head, Malice’s feet dangled at least a foot off the ground.

“Hey, I was looking for you,” Talon said in greeting.

“You found me,” Malice said without pausing.“What’s up?”

“I’m looking to do a little sparing. You up for it?”
