Me: Did what?

Kate: Him.

Oh… OH!

Kate: I rocked James Hendricks’ goddamn world last night, and now he’s outside our door with candy and flowers, hoping I’ll fuck him again.

Laughter bubbles up my throat.

Me: Are you?

Kate: I gave that man so many orgasms last night till sunrise that his dick was literally vibrating from doing it so much. What do you think?

What the….

Me: Um… yes?

Kate: No, Wren… No. We all know how easy it is for him to get pussy. Easy pussy is boring pussy, and I’m sure as shit not boring. I want pre cum dripping from the tip of his cock because he needs me so bad.

Kate: Making his ass wait = getting fucked till I can’t walk

This is my best friend, everyone. A mouth like a saint.

Me: Uh, good to know. I’m glad it’s working out for you.

Kate: And you? How’s the Decker household treating you?

Me: Good, his parents are so welcoming. Can’t talk though. I’m currently in the bathroom hyperventilating because we’re all about to sit at the table to eat. Wish me luck (nervous face) I’ll see you on Sunday!

Pushing my phone back into my pocket, I walk out of the bathroom to find Hayes waiting for me with a cheeky grin.

God, he was handsome.

“Ready?” He asked as he pushed himself off the wall and reached for my hand. I nodded and let him pull me downstairs and through the house until we finally made it. The dining room was something out of a fairytale. Bright yellow and blue painted walls surrounded a large, rectangular farm-style table while a twinkling chandelier hung from the top. I could immediately tell that this was a Mrs. Decker design. With the beautiful contrasting colors, perfectly placed fine china, and the small little details she added in this room, I was quite frankly amazed. My eyes must have been the size of dinner plates as I took it all in. I did a full three-sixty in slow-mo, capturing every wall and corner of the room.

“Nice, huh?” Hayes stood just outside the dining room, where his side was pressed against the wall, and his eyes followed my every move. “It started out as a drawing. Just something mom had come up with in her head, and one day, she decided to get it out of the paper. At first, she had accepted that her dream vision would never come to fruition. Having a two-year-old and working husband, she thought it would be easier to just paint the walls, throw a table in here, and be done with it.”

Out of the corner of my eyes, I notice a thick head of dark waves appearing from the hallway. Head cast downward, his piercing gaze instantly found mine. Almost like they were searching for me, but he quickly averted his eyes to Hayes.

“Then, one day, my dad found the drawing.” Hayes smiled to himself. “And the rest is history.” He gestured toward the dining room, causing my lungs to fill with warmth.

Hayes’ dad did all this?

My eyes couldn’t help but feel heavy with tears at the thought of Hayes’s dad doing all this for his wife. He made her dream come true.

“It’s beautiful, Hayes. Your dad… he must really love your mom.”

An emotion-filled smile crossed my mouth as I bounced my stare from Hayes to Mal, who was leaning his forearms on the back of a dining room chair and watching me. At first, I saw nothing more than emptiness in his gaze. A pit of nothingness as his expressionless gaze lazily regarded me. I could see why it would be so easy to find yourself lost in those hazy dark eyes because they drew you in without warning and demanded all your attention. Perhaps, he didn’t mean to stare at me the way he did. He probably didn’t realize the harshness of his stare and how it would make one squirm with unease. Luckily, he forced his eyes on Hayes and released his hold on me. A sense of relief washed over me, and I found myself walking over to Hayes.

“He’d be lost without her.” He spoke with his eyes latched onto the ground, and I swore his words had been directed at me. It sure as crap felt like it when they mindlessly wrapped around my soul as if they knew they were meant for me.

In my head, I had believed they were.

“Yah, yah, yah, we get it. You’re in love with the girl.” Mal grumbled on the opposite side of the room, causing my cheeks to flame. His tone was more that of an annoyed brother who had just caught his sibling engaging in PDA. Even though we weren’t, Hayes’ sweet words caused his upper lip to curl and his nose to wrinkle.

“Yah, well, it’s hard not to be.” Hayes threw at Mal before refocusing on me. The inside of my stomach felt like it had been flipped around on a rollercoaster with all the butterflies that were fluttering through me.

“Well, maybe tone it down a bit.” Mal grumbled. “It’s making me nauseous.”
