Shit.

“Can I lift the side of your shirt up a bit?” I used a soft voice while motioning with my head toward her hip. I could immediately sense her apprehension as her body slightly pulled away from mine. The last thing I wanted was for her to feel uncomfortable, so I slowly brought my hand to the hem of her shirt, but before my fingers reached it, I halted. “Is that okay, Blue?” I peered up at her with gentle eyes. Consent was key. Although I knew one day my girl would no longer be hesitant of my touch, I’d forever be the guy to get her permission before I put my hands on her.

Her throat contracted while her eyelashes fluttered in surprise. Maybe she wasn’t expecting me to ask, and when she nodded without words, I smiled.

My fingers clasped around the fabric, then, with a light tug upward, I was gifted with the view of her skin. Relief instantly flooded me when I didn’t see any marks or bruising of any kind. Instead, I found a single freckle taunting me. Just above her waistline lay a heart-shaped blemish, and I found myself leaning forward. It was pure instinct, no thought on it at all. I leaned in close and captured her stare with mine. She wasn’t stopping me. Instead, she watched in wonderment as my mouth closed in on her freckle, and ever so slowly, I rested my lips against it in the gentlest of kisses. Her breath hitched in the most beautiful sound. A short gasp, an intake of breath. The sound fell over me like rain. I wanted to remember it forever and bask in it until the end of my days.

“You’re perfect.” I placed one last soft kiss on her skin and pulled away. She watched me closely as her eyes went a little misty. No tears had fallen, but I could see the shimmering gleam in them before she pulled her shirt back down and chomped down on her lip.

“Far from perfect, but thank you for checking.” Her face flushed a beautiful shade of red, and I reluctantly scooted away from her as I felt prying eyes on us. Not that I cared, but I didn’t want Blue to feel any more uncomfortable.

“We can agree to disagree.” I grinned. “You ready to get out of here and get something to eat?”

My stomach growled at the mention of food, and with another nod of her head, I reached for her skates to help her out of them.

“Good.” I groaned. “Because you’re about to eat the best pizza of your fucking life.”

* * *

“So, what’s the verdict?” I stuffed my face with a greasy slice of pepperoni pizza as my eyes slowly wandered to the beautiful girl sitting beside me, who had a string of cheese hanging from the corner of her mouth. I couldn’t help but smile at her unawareness.

“It’s good.” She went to take another bite, and as she opened her mouth, the glob of cheese fell onto her lap.

She froze.

“Please tell me you didn’t see that.” Her words came out quick, causing a deep laugh to rumble through my chest.

God, she was cute.

“Nope.” I grinned while reaching over, snagging up the cheese, and tossing it into my mouth.

Horrified, her mouth dropped when I started to chew on it.

Is it possible for it to taste even better after it fell from her mouth? It sure as hell tasted like it.

“You did not just eat that!” She squealed while dropping her slice back into the box before covering her face with both hands. Chuckling, I went back in for another bite of my pizza.

“I did, Blue, and it tasted delicious.”

She gradually removed her hands from her face but not before groaning in embarrassment. Underneath the twinkling stars, sitting in the back of my truck with my favorite pizza, I couldn’t have pictured a better night than this. Not even in my wildest dreams could I have ever imagined that I’d have the girl of my dreams pressed against me, making me smile like the happiest man in the world and filling my heart with so much damn joy. Everything else had faded into the background, leaving only Blue and I. I never wanted to lose this feeling, this sense of belonging to someone, and though our tomorrows weren’t promised, I’d make the most out of this moment.

Right now.

“Come on, Blue. Don’t be embarrassed. It’s just a piece of cheese.” I nudged her shoulder with mine, but that only seemed to worsen it.

“A piece of cheese that I had in my mouth, Hayes!”

Rolling my eyes playfully, I dropped my pizza slice into the box beside hers and did the only thing I could think of that would make her less self-conscious in front of me. Though I didn’t want to scare her, I needed to get my point across quick. So quickly, I palmed the back of her head and yanked her towards my lips. She wasn’t expecting the bruteness of my pull or the crash of my mouth against hers, but she immediately surrendered to my attack. Her arms went slack beside her as our tongues dueled in combat. I didn’t mean for our kiss to grow heated, but when my cock began to harden painfully at the sensual swipes of her tongue, I knew I had to slow things down. Despite how badly I wanted to alleviate the ache with the warmth of her mouth or between her legs.

I couldn’t.

Then, abruptly, I ended the kiss as quickly as it started. I reluctantly detached myself from her lips but kept my hand secured around the nape of her neck.

“What was that for?” She breathed as her eyes fluttered open lazily. Grinning to myself, I rubbed gently on the back of her neck in a soothing gesture.

“To prove to you that it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Not when I just tasted every square inch of your mouth with my tongue and crave more.”

Her eyes widened almost innocently at my words. Her reaction was what I expected, adorable, but when she opened her mouth to speak and nothing came out, I wanted to kiss her stupid again.
