“I’m not sure,” said Ulani. “I’ll have the team back home tell me if they find anything.” U-Jin grabbed the bag and nodded.

“What’s he doing?” asked Mateo.

“He’s going to get it to our labs,” said Wyatt. “Did you remember anything else?”

“It’s weird. After speaking with you yesterday,” he said, nodding at Ashley and Bree, “I keep hearing the word ‘levels.’”

“Levels?” frowned Ulani, looking at the others. “Maybe they were trying to find the levels of the drug and what they would do?”

“I’m not sure,” said Wyatt. “That doesn’t seem to make sense to me.”

“Nothing about this makes sense,” said Ulani. “Was there anything else, Mateo?”

“No, ma’am. I’m sorry I didn’t show you this yesterday, but I just wasn’t comfortable talking about it all. Whatever you all did during our session has helped release something in me, though. I feel less of a weight on my shoulders.”

“I’m glad we could help,” smiled Bree.

“Well, I’ll be going now, but if you need anything else from me, this is my card,” he said, placing it on the table.

“I’ll walk you out,” said Carter. The young man waved at them, then disappeared inside the house with Carter. They all looked at one another, and Moose finally spoke.

“Curiouser and curiouser.”

CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

They found things to do around the house most of Saturday. With everyone being in Louisiana now, there were some minor repairs that needed to happen on the house.

Noa arranged for a major inspection to be done to ensure there wasn’t anything big that might be suffering, like the roof, air conditioning and heat, and the water heater. Thankfully, it was all minor things that the guys were able to take care of.

By late afternoon, they decided to take a walk on the nearly deserted beach. With the clouds hanging low, the only people in the water were surfers in full wetsuits.

“Man, I remember the good old days of running this beach,” smirked Carter.

“I’ve done my fair share of running here as well,” said Ethan.

“That’s right. Mr. Military Universe,” smirked Noa.

Ethan just shook his head. Up ahead was a group of teenagers walking toward the Hotel Del. Their backs were to the team, but Ulani and the other women noticed something immediately.

“Hey, guys, how old do you think those kids are?” asked Ulani.

“I can’t see their faces, but from here, maybe sixteen to twenty?” shrugged Wyatt.

“You guys notice anything about them?” asked Ani. They all frowned, staring at the group, then looked at Ani, shaking their heads.

“Men,” smirked Kelsey. “All of those girls are carrying handbags worth thousands of dollars. The one on the left is carrying an Hermés Birkin. That’s twenty grand.”

“Twenty!” screamed Noa, staring at his wife. “Are you fucking kidding me? What kid could afford that? What parent would be stupid enough to buy that for a kid?”

“That’s the point, honey. Where did those girls get that kind of money?”

“I say we follow,” said Ulani.

“Agree,” said Wyatt.

“No, no, no. Not all of us. Just us girls. You guys will terrify them. We’ll follow. You stay back a bit. It looks like they’re headed into the shops at the hotel. You guys grab a table on the sundeck and get a drink and some appetizers.”

“We’ll be listening,” said Wyatt, kissing his woman.
