“Hey, wait!” said Ulani. “You need to be careful.”

“Do I, princess?” he smirked, looking her up and down.

“Look at her that way again, and I’ll gouge your fucking eyes out,” said Wyatt. Ulani stared at him, wondering where that had come from.

“Listen to me, women have been drugging pilots all over San Diego. They disappear for a few days and can’t remember a damn thing. We think someone is stealing secrets about the jets you’re testing.”

“How the fuck did you know that?” asked Wyatt.

“Have you not been listening!” she yelled.

“I’ve had enough of you two. I’m outta here. Don’t worry prin-, Ulani. I’ll watch my drinks.”

“Mick? If she says it’s happening, it’s happening. Don’t let your dick ruin the night.” He laughed, shaking his head at Wyatt.

“Don’t let your brain ruin the night your dick could enjoy,” Mick smirked at his friend, walking by Ulani, and shaking his head. She was smoking hot, and anyone would want this woman. He sure hoped his idiot roommate didn’t blow it.

“Sorry, he’s a bit of a playboy.”

“And you’re not, apparently. Why?” she asked calmly.

“Maybe for the same reasons as you.”

“Don’t patronize me, Wyatt. You never looked sideways at me. You didn’t like me, have a crush on me, think about me.”

“You don’t know what I was thinking, Ulani. Maybe I’m just shy. Maybe I was thinking she has the most badass fucking father on the property, and I’d like to live past forty. You were a kid. Nine years younger than me. Yes, you’re grown up now. That’s obvious. But the age difference hasn’t changed.”

“In case you missed it, Wyatt. My father is more than twelve years older than my mother. He wouldn’t care about age.”

They were both silent for a long moment, staring at one another. Their soft breaths seemed to pick up speed, and Ulani took a step forward.

“Ulani.”

“Wyatt, don’t turn me away now. I need you, and I need your help,” she said, touching his chest. Her hands wereflat against his body, and he smelled the sweet vanilla of her perfume.

“Is that all? You need my help?” He looked so disappointed, her heart soared with the hope that maybe he felt the same.

“You really do have trouble listening,” she smiled. “I said I needyou.Yes, I need your help, but what I really need, right now, is you. I know our age difference, Wyatt. You’re thirty-six, and I’m twenty-seven. That’s a whole nine years. How terrible.”

“Ulani,” he said, brushing the hair from her face as he swallowed his nerves. He’d dreamed of this for years, and now she was standing in front of him with those huge dark eyes and the sexiest lips he’d ever seen.

His hand at her back twisted the long, silky black locks around his fist, and he pulled her close, his hot breath brushing against her lips.

“Ulani, if we move this into my bedroom, that’s it. There’s no going back. There’s no one else. You are what I’ve dreamed of. Every. Fucking. Night.”

“I’m right there with you,” she whispered. “Every. Night.”

“Then let’s end this now,” he said, tugging her to the bedroom. She pulled back, smiling.

“No. Let’s begin this now.”

CHAPTER FIVE

When Wyatt woke the next morning, the space beside him was empty. The sheet was cold, and he cursed, worrying that she’d run off or worse, played him.

“Shit!”

Hours of exploring her body, inch by inch. He’d covered it all, tasting it, touching it, devouring it. And she was gracious enough to do the same with him.
