“You don’t even know me.”

“We know what we feel in our hearts when you’re near. That’s enough to know that we want you in our lives forever.”

“Fuck off,” I croak, my throat thick with emotion.

He laughs and leans forward to kiss me. When his lips touch mine, I shiver in delight. I take the initiative and slip my tongue into his mouth. He wraps his around mine, deepening the kiss, slowly, erotically, thrusting his tongue in and out of my mouth almost as if he is trying to show me what he wants to do to other parts of me with other parts of him. I want to, but I’ve already gotten Benjamin into trouble by being a wanton omega on the verge of her heat. I don’t want to divide this pack by opening my legs for another alpha before the alpha prime has even had a crack at me. It’s a sign of huge disrespect and I have a horrible feeling that Sebastian is going to be seriously pissed off with me when he gets through with kicking Benjamin’s arse.

So, I settle for a fantastic kiss that fills my heart with joy and desire for the alpha underneath me.

He breaks the kiss after a few minutes with a shy smile. “We’d better stop, or I won’t be able to help myself.”

“Same,” I murmur to his delight.

He clears his throat and then regards me closely. “I want to apologise to you, Faith.”

“What for?”

“For being a complete bellend the other night. I don’t usually go around throwing women over my shoulder to stuff into the back of a car and drive away with them.”

I giggle like a fiend. I’ve laughed more this last day than I think I have in the last five years. “Bellend,” I gasp in absolute hysterics. “You’re fucking adorable.”

He waits patiently, trying his hardest not to laugh as well until I calm down. “Be serious for a minute, will you,” he chides me gently.

“Sorry!” I clap my hand over my mouth. “Sorry, really, sorry. And thank you. I accept your apology.”

“Good,” he says, relieved. “It’s been playing on my mind a lot how we got you here.”

I sober up and smile. “But I’m here now and I’m staying.”

“Half of me wonders why?” His eyes search mine.

I place my hand over his heart. “Because I feel this.”

Harvey smiles softly and clutches my fingers, bringing them to his mouth to kiss. “Can I ask you something?”

“Of course.”

“The pack your stepdad was going to sell you too, do you know who they are?”

Not having expected that, I freeze momentarily. “Uhm, no. I just overheard my mum saying they weren’t very nice. Had a bad reputation around town.”

“Are they going to come looking for you?”

The seriousness of his question throws me completely off guard. I hadn’t even thought about it.

“I don’t know. I don’t think they’d paid for me yet.” Those words coming from my lips angers me. I feel hot spots appear on my cheeks.

Harvey strokes my face with the back of his hand. “I don’t want to upset you, but this is stuff we need to know. You know we want to mate with you, if there is another pack out there who wants to do the same, then we need to be aware of who they are.”

“It’s okay. I’m not upset, just angry. And you’re right. I didn’t even think about it.” I let out a heavy sigh.

“We will protect you, Faith. Please don’t worry about them. They will not get their hands on you, but I need you to do something for me, okay?”

“What’s that?” I ask suspiciously.

“Stay on the grounds for a while. Even after your heat, don’t leave the safety of the estate, okay?”

I nod slowly, thinking there must be something else to that. Am I at risk for being the potential mated omega to the St. James pack, or is it something else? “Okay,” I say brightly, trying not to show my worry or my questioning concern.
