“Good girl,” he murmurs.
I can’t help the beam of pride I give him.
“So how old are you? Same as Benjamin?”
“No, I’m twenty-six.”
“Oh,” I say with surprise. “You seem older than that.”
He snorts. “Thanks, I guess.”
“I don’t mean that in a bad way, you’ve got this way about you…” I trail off and shrug not knowing how to describe it.
He gives me a smile and leans forward to kiss me again. “I can’t seem to stop doing this, petal,” he murmurs.
I respond immediately, enjoying his kisses immensely. “Me too.”
“Are you hungry?” he asks after a few heated moments.
“Yes. Starving.”
He chuckles. “Let’s go fill you up.” He takes my hand again and off we go to the kitchen where he makes me a dinner of pasta, sauce and garlic bread, which annoys the cook, but thrills me because it means I don’t have to cook the whole time. I don’t mind it, but doing it night after night like I did at home is a pain in the arse I could do without. Also, acook? He tells me they also have a maid, an entire team to tend the gardens, someone who comes around to clean the tapestries and paintings, three drivers who also clean and take care of the garage full of cars, and a fucking chimney sweep. What happened here? Did we time travel back to the Victorian era? All in all, my time with Harvey is fun, enjoyable and I decide he is definitely the one that will be a best friend as well as a lover.
ChapterTwenty-Five
Sebastian
I look up from my desk as Ben enters my office. He looks like he has something to say, but what I have to say takes precedence.
“Good, I was just about to come and find you.”
“What’s up?” he asks warily.
“Derek just rang, he is on his way back home, to their mum and stepdad. He did as we asked and contacted them to ask if they’d heard from Faith to throw the trail off him. They fell for it and now he’s going home all concerned that she’s missing. While he’s there, he will find out who this pack is that tried to buy Faith and we can deal with them in an appropriate manner.”
He lets out a growl that borders on just this side of too aggressive. Something is definitely bugging him beyond this. “By that, I hope you mean kick their arses.”
“Obviously. In exchange I will send all the info he has on Oliver’s disappearance to my dad for him to investigate,” I say and then sit back. “Got something you want to say?”
He nods slowly and stands in front of my desk, an almost defiant look on his face.
Narrowing my eyes, I remain quiet, even though I just want him to spit it out.
“Something happened earlier,” he starts. “With me and Faith. We had sex.”
His words sink in, and I see red.
I stand up abruptly, my chair kicking back a few feet. “You did what?”
He puts his hands up. “I know how it sounds, but let me explain.”
I don’t even think about my next move. I place my hand in the middle of the desk and use it to assist my leap over to land in front of Ben. I smack my hand to his chest, flattening him to the floor.
He lets out a grunt of annoyance, but stays down.
I crouch next to him, my hand fisting in his shirt. “You took advantage of her.”
“No, that wasn’t it. Let me explain. I need you to listen, Seb.”
